Star Trek: Enterprise, season 3

In some long-lost thread I had mentioned that I was just this year getting to watch season 2 of Star Trek Enterprise, and that I was enjoying it -- not loving it, but it was mildly entertaining.

I've since been able to see season 3, and what a change. There was a driving, forward momentum that I haven't seen in a Trek show, possibly ever. The big "story arc" was so helpful in keeping the action going. I liked how they expected you to be able to reach back to prior shows and recall relevant details. The actress playing T'Pol seemed a lot more relaxed. I didn't love every episode, but at least almost every episode served a purpose and didn't have a "throw-away" quality of many of the episodes of seasons 1 & 2 that were not about the core "temporal cold war" story.

I'm looking forward to seeing season 4!

From what I've seen on AICN about the Season 4 DVD soon to be released, you're gonna love season 4 even better. The theme of the last season, from what I understand, is "Tying loose ends." Everything from Kilingon ridge bumps to Black Ops is covered. :)

I haven't seen season 3 or 4, myself, so I may pick up the DVD collections via renting if I'm in a fit of needing something to watch.

Skip to Season 4. It's the Enterprise Season 1 that should have been.

Granted, Manny Coto did wrote for Season 3, but Braga and Berman were still the showrunners then controlling the Delphic Expanse story arc to the TCW main arc. When they let Coto become the showrunner for season 4 and added the Reeves-Stevens (Judith and Garfield) to the show's writing staff, the show got better by a hundredfold.

Yep, Season 4 was definatley the best. One thing though, Eric, is that is isn't one long story arc like season 3, but rather shorter, 2-3 episode arcs.

I did not know that Enterprise was out on DVD yet.

Okay... one more purchase-impulse to control.

I haven't heard many good things about Enterprise myself. Maybe I'm just running into the naysayers. You all seem to think it's pretty good.

Is it worth it?

Season 4 is, and Season 3 was getting there, but you might wanna know the backstory for 3.

I initially hated it (Old school Trek fan who thinks DS9 was too far off formula). But well worth watching when you get to Season 4. If you 're a fan of the new Galactica, the first few seasons of Ent will likely do it for you, but Season 4 may leave a bad taste in your mouth. That said, Season 4 is pure Latinum from where I'm sitting.

Really? I'm the old-school Trek fan that actually like DS9 for risking something new and exciting that kept me impressed. That and the fact that Berman and Braga didn't have their hands in that series production.

I was waiting for that.

In gaming shorthand: TNG holds no candle at all to Prime Directive's version of Trek for me. :)
