Spoilers Star Trek: Strange New Worlds - Season 3 Viewing (Spoilers)

Oh! Definitely missed that! I find it hard to make out what she is saying.
I think the line was deliberately mumbled. It's not an Easter egg if you don't make some effort to hide it.

The whole episode plot was Who-ish though:
What we get instead are some really clumsy exposition scenes combined with some of the wildest possible leaps of logic that all turn out to be completely correct. Those parts made my brain itch.

Sadly, I thought the finale was the weakest episode of the season.
As an episode, I thought it was weak and self-indulgent. As a show finale, I thought it did a decent job of wrapping things up, and I've seen a lot worse. However, the are 5 more episodes, so it's not the finale. 🤷‍♂️

Why is this episode called New Life and New Civilisations, by the way? It's pretty much entirely about some very old and rather uncivilised life.

Five? I heard it was 16.

Well, "new" is "new to humans/the Federation". Not literally new, like born yesterday, or something.

So apparently this episode was the original finale, as the series was planned to end with season 3, if what I read is correct. Maybe that's why it feels so rushed, trying to wrap up as much stuff as possible.

Viewed from that lens, I can forgive it's faults. It's flawed, but no "These Are The Voyages", at least.

Yeah, remember, Season 3 was impacted by the Writer's and SAG-AFTRA strikes that didn't end until November 2023.

Filming on Season 3 started in December 2023, and ended in May 2024. The order for Season 4 didn't come until April 2024.

So, by the time they knew they were doing a Season 4, the scripts and production plans for the end of Season 3 were already done. While some tweaks might have been made, it was too late to change it substantially.

That explains a great deal.

Yeah . . . but she could have been doing that AND some awesome engineering!

I've absolutely loved Carol Kane as Pelia in SNW, because I've loved just about everything she's ever done . . . but I do think her potential was wasted. Her portrayal is wonderful, but could have been so much more!

Of course, I'm also loving Martin Quinn's Scotty, so . . .
When Pelia was first introduced it was as a bored Academy professor. So it fits pretty well that she's a bit more hands-off and playing the wise mentor figure to the talented prodigy. And, as @Umbran has noted, she has shown that she can do these things, when called on.
