star wars: my 61 y.o. dad's reaction to "han shot first"

I was chatting with my 61 year old father recently. He was a fan of the original Star Wars but was pretty much unaware of the fact that there had been the revised versions. I'm not sure how we got on the subject, but I think it was about how nitpicky and "nerdy" star wars fans can get, and as an example I told him about the Han Shot First t-shirts I'd seen around. I explained the situation to him and expected him to chuckle in agreement. You should have seen the horrified look on his face when I described the revised scene. "That changes his character completely!" he said in a distressed voice, and then started explaining why. It was one of the funniest things I'd seen in a long time -- and a really cool reminder that my dad and I have a lot in common. :)

Too bad, it could have been a YouTube moment.

Bad Eric! You should have turned on your cell phone and recorded that conversation. Old people showing how Starwars retcons made baby panda cry* = awesome.

* Even baby panda's know that Han shooting first made him as bad ass as Dirty Harry and Chuck Norris combined.
