SW: Galactic Republic IC

Brasa joined Garek in his cabin, and heard the news.

"Thisa mission be bombad importante," the Gungan offered. "Wesa must be winnin' over de Hutts."

"I agree, Brasa," Oothar says as he ponders the Queen's warning. "We must not let this New Imperial Order gain those funds. It could be very bad for the Republic."

"Ambassador, if I may, I have two suggestions," the Ithorian paces slowly in the small cabin as he talks, "One, we should try to contact, on a secure channel of course, any agents of the Republic that may be on the ground at Nal-Hutta. They can inform us if representatives of the New Empire have been in contact with the Hutts, and if not, then they can keep an eye out for any suspicious characters who try to."

"Two, we should contact the Hutts themselves and push back the time of the meeting, claiming the engines need repair or some such," Oothar pauses to gauge the others' reactions. "Then, we see if our pilot can push this ship a bit harder and get us there before our original arrival time, thereby catching the Hutts offguard. At which point, we use our diplomatic and observational skills to determine if everything is, in fact, on the up and up. If the New Empire has set up camp on Nal-Hutta, I don't want to walk into a trap."

"If everyone is agreed, I will go and see what our good Captain is truly capable of," the Ithorian presses his palms together in front of him as he waits for a decision.

"A very sound idea, Oothar. See what our captain can do, I'm sure he'll be able to oblige us. I'll see who I can get hold of on Nal-Hutta."

Garek takes a seat in front of the coms panel, and opens a secure channel to the Republic HQ on Nal-Hutta.

"Very well, Ambassador," Oothar intones as he leaves the cabin for the cockpit.

Upon reaching it, he hesitates for a moment before speaking to the brash Twi'lek pilot, "Captain Vutaa, we need to get to Nal-Hutta ahead of our planned arrival time, but we do not wish the Hutts to know of it until our arrival is quite eminent. How fast will this thing go?"

After examining the controls and engine for a while, The pilot has come to the conclussion that he could probably get you there within 3 and a half days if he can figure a good course through Hyperspace (Fairly easily done). The original plan called for 5 days.
Meanwhile, the ambassador has managed to get ahold of Nal Hutta. A Bothan face appears "Yes? This is Fe'lar of Nal Hutta, what may I help you with?"

"Three and a half days? That is quite impressive, Captain," Oothar tries a bit of positive reinforcement to break through the Twi'lek's tough demeanor. "Hopefully, your skill will give us the upper hand that we desperately need in this situation."

"As for the actual mission we are on, it is one of diplomacy, as you know," the Ithorian continues as he takes the co-pilot's seat next to Wepps. "Although you do not trust me yet, I am nothing if not trustful of the Republic's decision in choosing you for this. In fact, the Queen told us that the only people she trusts for this mission are on this ship, which is good enough for me."

"That said, in light of some news we have just received, I feel that we could use some backup on the ground once we reach Nal-Hutta," Oothar's voice takes on the stereophonic quality that only Ithorians possess. "It seems that our mutual enemy, the New Imperial Order, is trying to make a play for the Hutts as well. I cannot stress to you enough how much the Republic needs to keep the Hutts' funds out of their hands. I don't know what you know of politics, but regardless, we could use you with us at the negotiations and not just behind the helm of this ship. What say you?"

"Politics on this scale is of great interest to me, Jedi, and perhaps another reason I'm part of this mission. I'm not one for negotiating, I'll leave that to the professional politicians, but I may be able to assist you...once I've assessed the situation."

"Thank you, and your careful consideration will serve you well, I'm sure, Captain," Oothar says as he stands. "If you will put the ship on autopilot for a moment, perhaps you can join us back at the Ambassador's cabin and see what kind of progress he as made, if any." With that, the Ithorian leaves the cockpit.
