Woah, an entry for Ten Candles?! Amazing! (For those who don't know, Ten Candles is a horror-themed RPG from Cavalry Games, and it's definitely worth your time.)

Best of luck to you, Snarf!

I mean, it sounds like you hate free stuff. ;)

You don't have to "get" the concept of seasonal coffee flavors, or their weird cult-like following. You just need to be able to nod in our general direction, maybe poke a little fun at us. Write up some rules for a magical pumpkin-themed weapon...write up a spice-themed encounter...house-rule something called a "Pumpkin Spiced Healing Potion"...whatever, just throw it at the wall and see if your fellow non-Yankee EN World members vote for it.
Or just run with the words "Pumpkin" "Spice" "Espresso" and see what comes up. My original plan (before I noticed the need to emphasize "Espresso" was to have five pumpkin heads ... Scary, Posh, Baby, Sporty and Ginger ;)

I played it once and it was one of the more memorable gaming one-shots I ever played. Very fun, very cool. Especially when I accidently blew out 3 candles instead of one ... 🤷‍♂️

I'll confess, despite being in the age demographic for it, I missed the Grunge Rock scene. A lot of my friends wore Nirvana T-shirts and such, but I was still blissfully listening to my parent's music, so I was still stuck on the Beatles and Gilbert & Sullivan.

Well, you're both off! It's for Old School Essentials! (I mentioned in another thread I'll be running a session or two next week!) Believe it or not, 2E is one of the two versions of D&D that I've not played or run (the other is the original white box OD&D, although I have the reprint box from twenty years ago or so).

The way OSE does it, they provide options. So, the AC is listed as "9 [10]" meaning it's 9 if you're using descending AC, or 10 if you're using ascending AC; and the THAC0 is listed as "20 [-1]" meaning it requires a 20 for the creature to hit AC 0 if using descending AC, or if you're using ascending AC the creature gets a -1 attack bonus.

Here's a quick breakdown of the contest so far.
  • Time remaining: you have 3 days, 16 hours, and 32 minutes to get your entry in.
  • Number of entries: there are six entries so far
  • Odds of winning: the odds of a new entry winning a prize would be 5-in-7, or 71%.
  • Types of entries:
    • three of the entries feature new monsters.
    • three of the entries feature new items or magic items.
    • two entries feature new settings or environments.
    • one entry features a new adventure module.
  • RPGs represented this year:
    • 5E D&D
    • Pirate Borg
    • Daggerheart
    • Ten Candles
    • Old School Essentials
      • No love for Shadowdark? No Call of Cthulhu?
Let's keep this pumpkin rolling!
