I like the idea of Wizards of the Coast appealing to its more mature players. After all D&D runs the gamut of ten years old up to (and beyond) middle age. This is definitely something I would buy for myself.

As a parent, I would like to see the company put a "Adults Only" or "For Mature Readers" warning on the cover. I wouldnt' my son reading something like this until I was sure he was old enough and I most definitely wouldn't want some store owner to sell this to him without my permission.

Falanor is right; Monte also pointed out on one of the other EN World threads about this topic that prostitution isn't in there. [/qb]

SO wait
- Human Sacriifce and Slavery is Okay
- Prostitution is not Okay?

PLEASE some people have a major mixed up sense of Morality!!!

Well prostitution is neither evil, vile, nor dark.

Mixing it with slavery could well be; but on it's own it's simply a skilled trade.

I'm not sure if the book is a good or bad idea. But that's not from the subject matter but rather because as it's been described so far it's simply redundant.

And the whole arch devils angle sounds a bit comic booky rather than mature to me.

We'll see in a few months though.

Arch Devils angle? What is comic booky about detailing the kings of devils and demons?

Yes, prostitution is not evil. It's degrading for the prostitute, but it's her (or his) business.

On the other hand, proxenetism (i.e. making other people prostitute for your benefits) is indeed evil, immoral, and frequently (depends on countries) illegal.

Im also a little freaked out by a statement i read from Monte somewhere that this something he had wanted to do for years and the idea of getting this project done kept him involved in the role playing industry this long - i read that a while ago when he had just announced that he was working on something and it was still a secret - can anyone say disturbed personality?

Well, I can say that, but I can also say "not a true statement in the least" as well. I can even say "offensive and borderline slanderous" too.

I think what you're remembering is that I said that this book had stuff in it that people have been asking for since I started working at TSR/WotC. That would be a reference to the stats for the archdevils and demon princes.

If anything has kept me in the industry this long, it's the level-headedness and warm regard of my fellow gamers. And, of course, their distain for pre-judging material that they haven't yet seen.

It keep me warm inside to see such obvious examples of ignorance from some of my fellow Americans. Keep it up, every time I read a post like yours I happily know there are still people around who are only suited for menial labor.

Maybe it's because our President is an idiot? Maybe he doesn't represent the minority of people who believe that evil is a difficult term to adjudicate? Maybe he doesn't represent all Americans? That *might* have something to do with it...

I will praise Bush on understanding one point: Pretending an enemy like the AXIS OF EVIL exists is a good thing if you want to scare people into building up the military.

It's difficult to lighten up in the U.S., we still burn witches over here. They have a new name though: They're now called minorities .

And yes, RPGers are a minority, too.

A fine theory, but not really the way it normally works. Prostitution is generally the exploitation of desperate women in conditions that are little different from the worst kind of slavery. Pimps completely control the lives of their girls, and take all of their money as well.

The difference is the same as the difference between a skilled seamstress and working in a sweatshop.

There are lots of legal trades (moral or immoral) that with just a slight twist become illegal.

I doubt there is much exploitation going on in the completely legal brothels in Nevada or in Sydney.
