The Crux of the Matter

"I always keep my bargains, little man. Otherwise, people would be hesitant to make bargains with me, and since I do so love mutual gain, it is most beneficial to me to be trustworthy. Now run along and go play with your friends. I know you'll want to save this soul."

OOC: Damned quicken spell... and what I hate with the new XP to chohort, it is just impossible for a cohort to catch up on lost XP. I don't know who I must be angry  (at RA for putting a level 17th(+) caster in that game, or Vanitri to not have fleed sooner, or Tenny who has dispel the protection from fire or myself because I havn't call the retreat), just cry :( or laugh  at all that... oh well, let's focus on getting Rinaldo alive of that  story and we will see what can be done for Hogarth...

No hard feeling ;)

(OOC: Well, I, for one, would be glad to give Hogarth his own share of XP (I've been seting XP aside for it) to an upper limit of having him two levels behind Rinaldo. You can ask some Judges about it--I'm one, and everyone else in the game is three more ;)

Assuming all of you just run around the tower to get to the top, we can go out of combat rounds and just say that you all meet just outside the final room

Oh, and the good part of that last crazy encounter is...well, I'll keep it a surprise, but let's just say that it was nearly enough to earn LEW's first 5 digit XP award ;)

Oh, zounds! Does LEW use that moronic rule in the SRD that you can't have enough XP to level twice? I'll figure something out about that, but meanwhile, if it does exist, in order to avoid it, you guys may want to rest right about here. Actually, you may want to do that anyway since you've been run pretty haggard and have no Cleric.)

OOC: So we are all at the top, near the Crux, and Vanitri arrive just before Rinaldo stab the Crux with dagger and tell him what has happen... right?

(OOC: Is Rinaldo going to open the door to the room with the Crux? Tenny will arrive simultaneously to Rinaldo, and Guile is clinging to him, so they're all up there. If Vanitri stops to pick up Ashna, or at least Ashna's Handy Haversack (recommended if you don't want all that treasure resigned to the same fate as Sin and her ilk), he'll still be there some seconds later)

OOC: yes, Rinaldo will open the door, and will probably try to destroy the Crux with his adamantine dagger if no one tell him Hogarth faith or try to stop him.

*The door is somewhat stuck, as if warped or distorted like by a Warp Wood spell (except it isn't wood). Rinaldo fiddles with it and is able to get it to a position where it will open, but by then, Vanitri is there also.*

Rinaldo hears Vanitri stories. Rinaldo, angry, slam the door open and looks at the Crux, and try to figure how it can be destroyed, but he doesn't destroy it yet.

*When he opens the door, there is a mighty and powerful chronomantic wave that bursts forth, threatening to sweep everyone in sight away, though it doesn't...just barely. Still, inside, the Astral effect ends, causing the floating to fail and bringing everyone back to their usual physical capacities. The Crux itself is in the centre of a large room covered in runes, sigils, and other protective and non-protective magical symbols and devices. It is a massive crystal of condensed...something--perhaps even condensed time! It shines brightly and gives off tantalising glimmers from this distance.*
