The Crux of the Matter

"Yeah, it happen, just as you can be annoying, just like every kids." On that, Rinaldo try to focus on the book and try to understand what it tells.

Hogarth, behind Rinaldo, stare a moment at the merchant. He seems confused. He look at Laynie and shrugs, making a sign that he doesn't understand what is happening.

Ashnar's eyes narrow, his resolve to keep out of the argument faltering. "That doesn't seem like you, mixing up a name, and getting annoyed by a child, Rinaldo." He steps away from the others, trying not to touch anything, so that he can keep an eye on everybody, especially Laynie and Hogarth.

"Yeah, that's true. He seemed to put up with those insipid children of his without a problem. Maybe he's just frustrated because he can't read a simple book."

"Well, can you? I'm sure you can, the way you've acted since we met. You are hiding something from us, I feel it."

(Could Ashnar get a good look at the book from where he is, by the way?)

(OOC: Yup, it's in Old Medibarian--he can see it from here)

"I already read it, you moron. Don't you have the memory Galatea gave to the common goldfish? I said it seemed to be a book of parables and fables, but it probably has a hidden meaning of some sort."

"You didn't read it. You took a glance at it and 'decided' it was to hard for you to actually understand the hidden meanings. Reading is understanding, and I am certain that you do understand, but you hide behind the convenient 'I'm just a child' excuse."

"Hey, I'm not the one leaving stupid cryptic clues--that'd be that Spira person, apparently. But I skimmed it, which is probably as good a read as we'll get leaving monkey-boy there to puzzle it out for an hour. He'll be lucky just to translate 15 pages into Common in that time."

"Not leaving cryptic clues, right," Ashnar snickers before calmly continuing. "You do know more than you let on. You've acted worried about this tower, you were entirely ignored by those 'kittens' of yours, you were aware of their temporal nature and didn't relay that to the rest of us until it was over, you have knowledge beyond your age. I stand by what I said, you are hiding something, and I am certain it is connected to this tower."

Ashnar glances at the others, looking for any signs that they move against him. Why did it take Rinaldo so long to decipher the book? Why did Hogarth try to interrupt him a few times, why were the Tenebrynn and Vanitri entirely silent?

"I'm tired and confused, and brilliant though I am, I am just a little girl--there's some things an adult would know from experience...though admittedly some of you are more appropriately termed 'a dolt' than 'adult'. I have nothing to hide, at least not that I know of, unless you didn't already know that this tower is where Mommy and I lived until her fatal experiment. I'm sure Vanitri knew that already, and I figured you did too. I was but an infant at the time, so I don't recall any specifics in layout that will help you, but there is that."

[SBLOCK=Tenebrynn]Tenebrynn was affected by something, so have him act unusually amused, finding everything little thing funny and laughable, until I say otherwise. Should be fun[/SBLOCK]
