(OOC: There's several female portraits, but most of them are highly dissimilar. The only one that isn't definitely highly dissimilar is only unsure because she's wearing a half-mask over the top of her face)

"You touched a lot of the lights, though, Vanitri--they didn't seem to hurt. Can you show me a way through that doesn't touch any lights?" Laynie looks really excited to check out the books.

*None of them is of a subject Laynie's age. One of them looks exactly like that woman Vanitri saw at the Academy with the Philosopher's Stone, who in turn looks reasonably similar to Laynie.*

*Laynie comes in and walks extremely carefully to stay far away from the lights--though they are many, and she picks her way amongst the stacks, looking through books, making sure to stay farther away from the lights than the distance at which they came after Vanitri. But then, even though she is a bit farther than Vanitri got, one of the lights shoots into her anyway. She stands still for a few seconds and blinks, then trembles slightly and continues looking amongst the stacks. A few more lights enter her, but they seem not to inconvenience her for more than a short time each, and she finds what she was apparently looking for.*

"Hey, lookie! The Historia Arcana Medibarica--Volume 21: The Rise of the Magequeen. Can someone search behind this?" she points to a book.

*Vanitri finds something weird, and when he touches it, part of the nearby bookcase shimmers and melts into a glowing orange portal.*

"Whoa, sweet! We totally figured out the secret code! Everyone come check this out!"

Bront

The man with the probe
"Yup. Rinaldo, get the others, let's see where this goes."

Vanitri will slip into the portal with Laynie.
