The Exotic Weapon Master PrC is just too cool

Trying to figure out the best combo for an Exotic Weapon Master.

Right now I am thinking one level of Monk (for the three EWP prereq) and one level of Barb (for the rage prereq).

Taking all five levels of EWM means 13 other levels.

What class combo should I use?

First, has anyone found out why Rage is needed for this class?

I like rogue and ranger for the sneak attack and the two weapon fighting abilities. Fighter levels are always good because of the feats. However, I'd be a little daring and try to find an additional prestige class. Frenzied Beserker would be fun because you can pick up anything and use it as a weapon.

Only problem with monk followed by barbarian is you have to reconcile how your lawful, discipline-oriented monk suddenly went wild, chaotic barbarian :-)

Not too bad if you are creating a character that is already 3rd lvl or something, but a little hard to RP out in-game from lvl 1.

IMO, it makes sense.

Rage is associated with unorthodox fighting style.
The fight with anything Pclass seems clearly unorthodox to me.

On the other hand, rage is associated with an undisciplined, brute force fighting style - and mastery of all exotic weapons seems clearly disciplined and skilled rather than plain old brute force...

The other problem with multiclassing a monk with a barbarian is this: If you are playing in the FRCS, you can only pull this off if your Monastic Order allows such a multiclass (determined by your DM). If they don't, you become an ex-monk.

He wants to become an ex-monk, sonce you don't lose anything you just can't go back to being a monk. And the only reason he picked up monk was for WP singham, WP shuriken, WP nunchucks, for those 3 exotic weapons proficiencty requirements.

The only thing I don't like is the pick up any object and make it a weapon ability. I would like it if it was pick up any object and you can use it as a weapon doing x damage. But this crafting a object with artisan tools thing is just lame. Especially when the guy ends up making weapons better than any weapons designer/smith. How about a 2d6 reach,+2 disarm, tripping weapon please, why don't you see if the dm will let you make it masterwork so we can enchant it.

I don't think they are compatible under any circumstances. Monk is lawful, barbarian in non lawful.

I don't see it that way at all.

It is not that the class has actually spent time training with every exotic weapon. He just has reached a point where he can improvise with anything and make it work. Completely unorthodox.

Skilled, yes. But I don't see any contradiction between being a barbarian and being skilled.

But a stereo-typical fighter is skilled in the using standard weapons or a chosen particular weapon.

Being able go nuts and open a can of Whoop Ass using whatever is handy does not imply discipline to me at all.
