Had a bbq party here last night. Guest brought a bunch of mini pizzas as a side. Another guest brought (super yummy fresh) pineapple.

Watching the look of horror on my Italian guest as I placed hot pineapple on my mini pizza was totally worth it.
Apparently there's an Italian food writer who published a book last year that says that most "Italian" food didn't originate there and the whole country went crazy. The Italians particularly didn't like the idea that pizza is American and Italian pizza is basically cheese on focaccia, even with its limited use of tomatoes.

(The argument, as I understand it -- not having read the book -- is that tomato sauce is just so much more available in the US and so much cheaper, that Italian-Americans use it to such a dramatic degree that it transforms the dish.)

That's one of the things I've worked hard to teach my teenager: If someone says something has a simple answer, they either don't understand the issue or they're hustling you. Happily, he seems to be getting it.
A lot of the world’s problem really do have simple solutions. We just refuse as a society to solve them simply. Have a problem at your gaming table? Talk to them like adults. Simple.
