The Seige of Shadow Wood

"M´lya, it´s an idea. Do you feel comfortable in the role of decoy?" says Dancer with a half smile. "But listen, whatever is the best course of action, it won´t be to stay here, chatting and hearing old tales. Let´s go to the edge of the forest and have a look at what those things are doing. We can decide in the way."

Edit: this is from another thread:

"Yes, let us," says M'lya, as she concludes her song. She wishes the birds around her away."They're not the stealthy sort."

The conspirators travel to the eastern edge of the forest, where the horde can be seen, just out of bow range.

On the way to the edge, you discuss where you would go if you were to try to get aid for the elves. The closest city still intact (or at least it should be, since it's at least as heavely protected as your forest) would be Stoneshed, on the other side of the mountain range behind the hourd. The easiest way to get there is through a tunnel that you all know about that leads from the center of the forest all the way to the foothills of the mountains. It's trecherous, but nothing that ewach of you have not done in the past.

All of you notice the pressence of about 50 elves ready for the hords next move, one of them, the best bowman of the forest (which is saying alot), Diagoian, motions for you to come near.

"Looks like they killed enough of their leaders until they found one with some brains. They've stopped their attacks and wait. It may be a deversion while they try to do something else, I'm not sure... but whatever it is, it's unlike this scum to show any sign of patience. It's make the rest of us feel uneasy." Diagoian confides.

Laucian laughs. "I think that 'uneasy' is a poor word to describe how we should feel about the presence of thousands of savages on our doorstep. 'Terrified to the bones' might be a better use of words."

"But we didn't come here to argue semantics, Diagoian. We're seeking information. What specific details can you give us about the nature of the Horde?"

As Laucain talks with Diagoian, he considers the idea of travelling to Stoneshed. A long journey, to be sure, but not only might it garner us some possible allies, there could be a chance we'd learn more about the Horde. At the the moment, information is power.

"They are a swarm of beings worse than animals" says Dancer, answering Laucian question. "But how much do you think they´ll wait?" He looks at the druid, knowing they´ve had the same idea. Stoneshed is now our only opportunity

Diagoian motions to the hoard and says, ”They are more organized then we normally see, but then again, to have such a large group stand against us, we already know that an unusual force is leading them.”

He points out certain things from his position, some of which only his sharp eyes can see.

”See there. They have goblins on worgs scouting the area, which is not that unusual, except that over there, you can see where they have erected a tower to keep those scouts in sight. The scout reports things through a series of flashes from a lantern that he has. Since the light is directional, and we’ve only caught a few examples of the code in use, we have not deciphered it yet.”

“You can also see that they keep their stronger units as support, rather then as the main attackers. Once we have started attacking the weaker forces, and concentrate on the closer threat, which is just natural, they then move in the ogres and giants.”

In the distance, you DO see the form of a figure towering over the others… must be over 10’ tall.

”So, we really have had our hands full. We’ve sent out scouts who have reported that the command tents are in the center of the mass, and that is guarded by a group of human’s with a quarter moon on their arms. They were well hidden, and only our scout’s extensive training allowed them to see them at all… only the most trained scout have been able to make it that far, Misterioal.”

Misterioal was famous. He was old enough to be an elder, but refused the post. He had left the forest to see the world for about 200 years before returning and never leaving again, warning the rest of them that their isolationist attitudes were for the best.

It was said that he could hide in the shadow of the sun, and walk silently through a room full of broken glass. If anyone could penetrate the hoards camp, it was Misterioal.

M'lya begins a soft song to fill the hearts of the elves with courage for the way ahead. It tells them not to despair if their lives be lost, for the force of the woods lives forevermore, and they would have died with honor and purpose.

The group says their farewells and start to travel towards the cave that will lead them past the hoard to possible help beyond.

OOC: Is this moving to slowely, or was there just no reason to post? Just wondering what I can do to up the posts for this adventure! Thanks!

(OOC: I´d swear I posted a reply :uhoh: )

"Humans with the orcs" says Aenyeweddien. "That would explain a lot of things. And is that an ogre?"

He turns to the others. "Bad as the situation was before, now it´s worse. We have to hurry, and Stoneshed is our only hope!"
