They Changed FIREBALL?

Those things are intrinsic to D&D. If one of those go away, it "Isn't D&D". Whether Fireball scales with a level or not is irrelevant.

If they got rid of classes all together, or if spellcasting was just skill-points like Oblivion, then there would be a leg to stand on with regards to Not Being D&D.

In your opinion.

To others, it may be a smaller or larger set of concepts.

Like I said before, we all have different benchmarks.

I'd have included a number of other things that aren't on your list. Amongst others "Levels". But, once again, YMMV.

Hardly! I'd say more than 95% of all video game terrain is indestructible, Sure a few things here and there can be smashed for power ups and etc, but no matter your firepower, the vast majorty of the stage is going to be in one piece when you leave it unless the whims of the programmer make it otherwise.

At least in D&D you can take out a warhammer or pick and make a dent in any non magical wall you find. Sure the Gordian Knot approach won't always work, but at least there going to be a reason why you HAVE to find the key to the old door in the abandoned house when you have a perfectly good crowbar...
The first rule of Hong Club is not to discuss Hong Club.

The second rule of Hong Club is not to respond seriously when Hong is dropping one-liners.

The third rule of Hong Club is to beat Hong with a club.

Repeat as needed.

Beating Hong with a club works better in CM, where you have even a nice :hong: emoticon to do it easily.

But anyways, if beating Hong with a club makes you to be in the Hong Club, I ask to be a member...

/me beats hong with a club

P.S.: yes, I don't add anything meaningful to the debat. After all, the thread was labelled Humor

Fireball isn't 1d6/level????

What's next, are they gonna make it so instead of causing a giant fireball to leave my wizard's hands, a pellet, like my rabbit drops, will fly to the target and explode there???

((Apologies to SOAPMan.))
What I heard was that to remove confusion about placing a spherical spell on a grid map, they were changing the name of the spell to "Firepolygon."

I figured it would be called "Pixelball"

I thought they wanted to get away from any confusing clashing with realism, removed any references to "exploding" and "explosion", and therefore decided to call it

The Sudden Polygon of Near Heat and Quasi-Flames

"Instantaneous Fire-Based Damage Zone" has a certain panache to it.
