[sblock=Banion ]"No, just Artea. Idrag doesn´t like her with anyone else. Look, I have to go."

She continues her way, barring your actions.[/sblock]

[sblock]"A good day then, ma'am, and thank you for your assistance."

Having delayed the courier as much as possible, Banion will hurry back to the house of ill repute, where he will attempt to hurry past the doorman. He declares that a young lady of the house has informed him that a miscreant halfling named Beamer is causing trouble for the ladies, and that at last Banion has caught him red handed!

(He's not expecting to actually get in, but he'll create a noisy enough disturbance while being rebuffed to give the others warning that the jig is indeed up. When rebuffed he'll retreat across the street, disapearing into shadows at the first opportunity.)[/sblock]

"I'll be the judge of what's a waste of my money. That is truly a heartwrenching story, and somewhat similar to my own. I was orphaned at a young age, but had the good fortune to be taken in as a merchant's apprentice. It turned out he was only using the cute little halfling kid to attract customers and when I started looking older, he threw me out on my ear. He did teach me to read and write though and I've been able to make a career out of it. You seem to be doing well for your self, and your fee is certainly higher than many. You must have some weathly acquaintances?"

OOC: Sorry for the slow posting. I'm enjoying the chance to play a character with much higher charisma than my own, but it takes some thought to form my responses the way I want. Too much concentration to do it at work.

Draig stands quietly, resisting the temptation to take a more direct route with Artea and quite aware that Beamer is far more eloquent than he is.

[sblock=Banion ]You return to the brothel. However, that´ll take some posts for the rest of the party to synchronize the events[/sblock]

"You must have some weathly acquaintances?"

"Sort of. The captain of the guard is infatuated with me, and insist I don´t see anyone else. he can be bothersome sometimes."

Beamer mentally sighs in relief. Seems that she missed your true intentions, hidden among the fast talk. That, or she´s very good at pretending.

Finally, an opening, Beamer thinks at Artea's latest response.

"The watch captain is wealthy? I've never known of a watch captain who makes that kind of money. Is he from a noble family?"

"No. He started as a soldier of fortune, troubleshooter and sometimes adventurer, doing jobs for some merchants and guildmasters in the city. Finally he made his way up to captain of the guard." Artea shift uncomfortably in her chair. "But I don´t like to speak about him. I´m surprised you were allowed in here with me, Idrag will know and then I´d not want to be in your place."

A depressing thought runs through Beamer's mind. Great, a former adventurer. He will no doubt be an experience warrior in addition to his other nefarious qualities.

Beamer continues, ignoring her discomfort out of concern for ... her safety. "Oh, I hope we aren't getting you in trouble. Will he harm you for seeing us? How is it that he has such a strangle hold on the city?"

"If he finds out, yes. You can bet he´ll."

"How is it that he has such a strangle hold on the city?"

"I think they call it the carrot and stick technique. Idrag is the one wielding the stick, this is something everyone in the city can tell you. But I spend already enough time with him and I´m tired of hearing about his job. What do you do exactly?"

Draig coughs, "We're... well we're hoping to do some trade in the city, importing some unique goods. But setting up it seems we have to pay someone some strange and expensive taxes. I've done a little travelling in my time too, never been here though. Seemed like a good spot, could be a very prosperous town if the taxes weren't so steep.

Draigs eyes narrow "It's not right that Idraig should hurt you for talking to other people. Is there no-one you can go to about it, no-one above him in the ranks? You can't live with him beating you, it's not right."
