Thirst for power (Finished) (Knight Otu judging)

OOC: Sorry, having read that message I've realised how incredibly ambigous I was. I'm not in Japan yet, but will be flying out on Saturday (see post 192). Work's just taken over my life for the last week or so and been unusually busy, hence being a little quieter on here than I'd have liked.

I should be able to post now and again while I'm in Japan and I'll be there for 3 weeks. I hope it's OK to leave Draig semi-NPC'd for that time especially since it looks like we're coming up to a major event here, and I'll call in when I get an opportunity.

Draig's just been approved for level 2 so no need to wait for that!

ooc: Just in case you were wondering, we were not waiting for your characters to be approved, it´s just that you (and I mean Draig) would probably need the extra level soon. Next IC post today.

You have no problem either buying a cloak* or reaching the warehouse; you know they are located near the docks. Inquiring a fat man with an apron makes he point at Koplov´s: youre surprised by the amount of activity going on, as scores of stevedores haul things into it and foremen shout orders.

"He [the merchant] sent two merchant vessels to the south, and they just returned." says the fat man. "One yesterday, the other was damaged in a storm and delayed. There´s a lot of work at the docks when that happens."

*at normal PHB cost or

From his hidden position, Banion will look for signs as to what is being brought in.

Weapons? He thinks. They probably have plenty, allready. Stolen merchandise? Very likely. Possibly some sort of drugs or magic, though.... This mess may yet turn into a full scale millitary coupe attempt, whatever those pretty boy merchants might think.

Beamer thanks the man and continues on his way, not wanting to rouse more attention than necessary. As Beamer passes the warehouse, he tries to make note of any place they might be able to observe the meeting unnoticed, and any places that might allow covert entry into the warehouse. He also eyes the ship to determine if it looks like storm damage or perhaps damage from something else (though he has no expertise in that area).

OOC: Are the dock workers mostly human? I'm assuming we are walking between the docks and the warehouses. What kinds of buildings are passed the warehouses" more warehouses, slums, fancy merchant houses?

Draig looks at the area not only for a positon to hide and watch what's going on, but also to see if there are any people around who would notice the goings on on the docks - a harbourmaster, or someone sat outside an inn watching the world go by etc. Anyone that might notice the group, and also that might know a little more about what's been going at the warehouse.

ooc: I´ll try to describe the situations the best I can.

You just arrivd there and asked the man. You´ve been mere seconds there, but if you stay in the open, watching and/or asking more questions everyone that has eyes in his face will notice you. Right now, the dock boils with activity, so finding a quiet place from where you can watch without being noticed is very difficult.

As you´ve previously noticed, the mansions owned by merchants and other important buildings, like temples, gather around the town´s central square. Between them and the docks you can find the commerces, stores, guilds and some houses that once where middle class but now, mostly, are not. The poorest houses actually lie to the east, next to the city´s walls; the city´s shape isn´t disimilar to Orussus, but resembles more accurately a crescent moon.

Now, the warehouses -and most Gotian buildings in general- are stone, square buildings with a flat roof surrounded by a low parapet, since weather here isn´t too harsh and very rarely snows. They are, obviously, located near the docks. Interestingly, most of the warehouses also boast a tall and slim tower on one corner, and you can see people on them watching the sea.

The warehouse you care of has two large doors, one on the port side and the other directly opposite; those doors have built in them smaller doors -so you don´t have to open the entire large door is a person wants to enter-. The large doors are big enough for a cart to enter them.

The streets surrounding the warehouses are relatively wide, with enough space to also allow a cart and several men. They narrow once you enter the city except for the main street ("caravans´ street") that divides the city almost in half, goes through the main square ("market square") and east gate into the continent.

Most people you´ve found are humans. The city seems to lack the racial diversity you´re used for, except for the relatively abundance of half-orcs.

I´ll post a map, if you need one to understand better the surrounding area.

Beamer continues walking, not actively trying to avoid notice, but trying to stay out of the way and appear to have business farther down the docks. He's most interested in finding a spot that they could come back to later to spy on the evening meeting, not necessarily a spot to secretly observe what is going on right now.

OOC: That description is more than adequate for me. Thanks!

Draig looks around at the area looking for a good vantage point. "I wonder if we could get onto one of the roofs to hide there and see what's going on tonight from the rooftops?" he suggests to Banion and Beamer, "It's not like we need to confront Idraig after all. At least, that's the theory."
