I noticed in your first post that you are only allowing one monstrous character in the game. Would you allow an unbodied race from XPH?

I was thinking about playing an unbodied psion(telepath) 6 // wizard 5/ incantrix 7 character.

What do you think?

As for the other info you asked about myself I have been playing D&D for 20+ years and am very familar with the FR world, but I wouldn't call myself an expert. I also play several gaming systems like stargate, spycraft, vampire, shadowrun.

I usually play spellslinger type characters (clerics/wizards/psions) and craft unique magic items. I'll make sure to run any by you for your approval.

My playing style is usually goal/strategic oriented. I like to reach goals and develop my characters.

@Ferrix-The Gold Dwarf looks like a rockin idea. Also, if you play the spellguard character you can have permission to be attuned to the mythal of silverymoon if you wish. Of course it still costs XP, but the option is there. Don't forget with the Spellguard character that in your background you should give an account of your reaction to Alustriel's death. Just so you know, rumors are travelling through the ranks of foul play, but nothing has been confirmed. After all, Alustriel was a chosen one and a powerful mage, so it is difficult to think someone could have undone her.

@Shayuri-Yes and yes. Treat Improved Wildshape and wildshape as the same thing if an item or effect describes one of them. I do appreciate you asking though and if you come across an instance where you think that would make a huge power problem it would be best to ask about it so I don't have to errata myself.

@chubbell-Just to clarify, I was saying that at most there will be one monstrous character in the group, but just so you know there may not be any. As for the unbodied, yes I will allow it, and it looks like you already took into account the +6 LA. Also concerning your build, keep in mind the stuff I said about the Incantrix in an earlier post (metamagic effect can only be used if the spell adjusted spell level with the feat is of a level the Incantrix could cast). With those things in mind, I like the concept.

Hi Gabrion,

I just wanted to let you know that I updated my submission for the Ranger/Illusionist, including as much information as I could for you. I do want to let you know that it includes an item from Dragon #325 (the feat Enhanced Shadow Reality) and a monster class, Shadow Creature, first detailed in Manual of the Planes, then broken down into a 2 level monster class (LA +2). As per your instructions, I multiplied it by 1.5 to get LA +3. This represents Corund's transformation by life in Shadow, and steeping himself in Shadow energies.

I will try to have spell and equipment information up in a day or two.

I hope I have the chance to play. This looks like fun!

Regards,
Erudite

@erudite-Unfortunately I'm missing that dragon, so you will need to type up the details. Your description of it in the feats section of your character makes it clear what the feat does, but I'd like the wole write-up if you please. You can either put it in an sblock here or email it to me at jonathan.lindsey@yale.edu.

One question I have about your character (cause I'm too lazy to figure it out), is how real are your shadows? I only ask because I won't allow them to be more than 100% real, so keep that in mind (and I hope it doesn't screw things up for you). Other than those things, I like the character.

Hi Gabrion,

As you wanted:
[sblock]
ENHANCED SHADOW REALITY [General]
your shadow-based spells are more real.
Prerequsites: Spell Focus(illusion), illusionist level 1st.
Benefit: Your illusion (shadow) spells deal one-fifth (20%) more real damage if disbelieved. For example, a creature summoned with a shadow conjuration spell deals two-fifths(40%) of the damage a real creature of the same kind would deal if the target of the spell disbelieves it, instead of only one-fifth(20%).
[/sblock]

I agree that no matter how things stack up, reality should max out at 100%. So if the Powerful Shadow Magic ability adds 20%, and Enhanced Shadow Reality adds 20%, and the spell itself has 80% reality, it would do at most 100% of damage if disbelieved. I think it is fine, and can live entirely with that ruling. Really, it simply makes his lower level spells more effective.

So how will this work out?
[sblock]
To give you a general idea of how his illusion (shadow) spells will often work out (with all of his class and feat abilities considered) is that he can convert any spell to to Silent Image (Full Round Action), which becomes (if he likes) an illusion(shadow) spell that can duplicate any evocation or conjuration (summoning or creation) spell of one level less. The reality of the spell will be 10% times the level of the spell slot used PLUS 40% (20% from Powerful Shadow Magic and Enhanced Shadow Reality each). Thus he can use a sixth level spell slot to mimic Cloud Kill (a fifth level spell). It will have 100% reality (6 x 10% PLUS 40%).

If he is standing on stone or earth, he can treat the spell as if it was a seventh level spell, and as if his caster level was six levels higher. The reality of the spell would be 110%, which of course is silly, so it maxes out at 100%, still.

[/sblock]

I hope this helps!

@Erudite-That feat is fine and as far as I can tell your breakdown of the shadow % thingy is correct.

On a side note, is there a particular reason for all of the Horizon Walker levels (sorry if I'm over looking some key part of your build)?

Heck no! Look all you like, man. I wanted Corund to have a profound understanding of the planes given his background, and the ability to Dimension Door every 1d4 rounds is very useful. Plus, it adds to the theme of the character quite nicely. I realize that power-wise it may not be the 'optimum' choice, but it fits.

Ok, that's what I figured. And it does do quite nicely with the theme!

can a complete newbie to PbP join? :heh:
I did play PnP ad&d and d&d for quite a while with friends, but had to stop when I moved.

Sorry, but I skipped over this post somehow. Yes, PbP newbs are welcome, but this game is geared toward high powered characters so it is best that you have a good understanding of mechanics and can put together a strong gestalt combo.

As for your ideas, I allow all of that stuff, but I was confused how they worked as far as gestalt goes. If you can post it in format something like class 1/class 2/class 3//class A/class B/class C, where the "//" indicated the split between the two sides of the character, that would be super.
