OOC: Doesn't the second grapple attempt AoO provoke an AoO from Hargelda? Thokdok is visible this time.

I was thinking that tiny creatures do not get AoOs, but after further review, that is only if you move into their space or provoke an AoO from outside their space. It makes sense that trying to grab them would provoke an AoO.

The AoO misses (rolled 14).

A draw is declared in the middle of round 9.

Psybo will let us know who the next combatants are.

“We will now resume our second quarterfinal match featuring the best of the Neutral Good forces against the best of the Neutral Evil forces.”

Making his way into the arena and starting at position 115N60E, this combatant measures 5 feet one inch tall and weighs 93 pounds. He has a record of one win, one loss, and zero draws in the main battle. He was valiant in his victory over Neutral’s indomitable spine springer and pathetic in his loss to Neutral’s dire hawk. He hails from the plane of Elysium. Representing the forces of Neutral Good, please welcome the cervidal guardinal Lorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrriuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuus!”

Lorius saunters into the arena to the cheers of the Neutral Good faction of the audience and concentrates briefly. His slim, muscular body is covered with short, dark red fur. He has hooves instead of feet, but his hands are humanlike with the exception of a hard plate of horn protecting the back. His most prominent feature is the pair of long, curved horns atop his head.

“Now making its way into the arena and starting at position 0N60E, this combatant measures 5 feet tall and has no appreciable weight. It is undefeated in the main battle, with a record of zero wins, zero losses, and one draw. It managed a draw against Neutral’s superior air elementite swarm. Representing the forces of Neutral Evil, please welcome the allip Nuuuuuuuuuuuuuuutssssssssssssso!”

A creature straight from a lunatic's nightmare floats out of the darkness and makes a beeline to its starting spot in the arena, babbling and moaning to itself as it goes. Nutso the allip has a vaguely humanoid shape, but with shifting, barely discernible features that bristle with madness. Its lower half trails away into misty nothingness, and it leaves a faint trail of black fog behind as it moves. The audience is a little disturbed.

Psybo communicates telepathically to the two combatants. “Lorius, you have initiative unless Neutral Good states otherwise. Commence fighting!”

Remember though that Tiny dragons have 5ft reach with their bites and so get normal attacks of opportunity, too. :)

I will say one thing, though. CN is glad to see the void-thing go.

Lorius's lip turns at the sight of the allip, and stalks toward it, making a powerful gesture that sends five golden globes of celestial light streaming at the thing.

(MEA: 115N60E to 90N60E, Std: SLA Magic Missile at CL9)

With a loud, gurgling cackle followed by a haunting moan, the allip sinks down into the arena floor.

Referee only:
[sblock]Run to 90N60E-5Z. I assume that this forces the cervidal to make a Will save vs. hypnotism, but since Nutso's underground, it's your call.[/sblock]

(OOC: Assuming no GM intervention required)

Lorius paces forward, his eyes scanning for signs of the thing.

(MEA: 90N60E to 60N50E, Std: Readied attack action if the thing shows up in swinging range...)

For Komodo & PJSlavner:

[sblock]Incorporeal creatures have an innate sense of direction, so they can move at full speed through concealment, including solid objects. They are the exception to the rule. However, running is a straight line, so Lorian will see Nutso gradually descend into the ground and hear the babbling in range before Nutso completely disappears.[/sblock]

Lorian sees Nutso come straight at him, gradually descending rather than disappearing at 0N60E. Nutso finally disappears into the ground at 45N60E. While approaching, Nutso constantly babbles incoherent utterances that have no effect on Lorian. (Rolled 21 Will save)

Round 2!

Lorian can change his move or stick with the move posted above.
