What exactly prompted them to bring back the X-Files? Chris Carter running out of money?

Looks nice; trailer image is tiny though (couldn't get it to increased the viewable size). I have been waiting for another X-Files movie since Fight the Future was so over-the-top.
Hollywood has ran out of new ideas. So they are going with "old" ideas that are popular.
Not sure why Chris Carter has waited this long. You think the movie circuit would have occurred right after the series ended.

Chris Carter stated in an interview that he wanted to reintroduce The X-files to a younger audience that missed out on this stellar show during it's nine year run. Sure, he's going to make money.
But he's going to make money because The X-files was a great show that set a high standard for supernatural T.V. series. The X-files raised production values for T.V. as far as I'm concerned. It was one of the few shows that looked like a professional movie every week. The special effects were generally top notch, the direction was very good, the writing was consistently great, the cinematography was more like a movie than a T.V. series, and it was just one of those milestone shows that changed T.V. and our expectations of a supernatural T.V. show.
There still isn't a show on today that is as good as The X-files. I'm glad Carter is bringing it back. I bet there are a ton of X-file fans like myself who wanted more. I wish Duchovny had never grown tired of the role. I wanted that show to go on forever. I still haven't found a supernatural show I like as much as The X-files.
