Yeah and the ranger is better off as an archer as well. At least it was in 2014, 2024 not sure. Alot of Rangers power is added via subclass relative as well.

Even if it's behind on damage it depends on how much and does the rest of its abilities compensatefor that.

Monks also a poor baseline as it's the leading contender now for most damage.

You're still punishing yourself if you go wisdom first. Unless you're using Shillelagh or have another way to key off wisdom.

That and a lot of the ranger spells to ramp up damage..... use your bonus action.

Beastmaster ranger also doesn't deal magic damage.

You can get it level 2 via a class feature or origin guide feat.

True. Woth a lot of ranger abilities keyed off wisdom I'm thinking beastmaster, guide origin, Shillelagh.

You and beast build around knocking prone. You can skip the origin and have beast attack twice.

you cant have more than one and cant give it to someone else.
just make it last while the weapon is in your possession and be done with it.
