True 20 Fantasy

As Denaes has stated, True20 out of the box (or PDF) is written with fantasy in mind. The "modern" appendix is just a starting point. So, if you are willing to tweak the system and add to it, then it would work well for what you want.

If, on the other hand, you want to be able to open up the book and play, then no. In this case, other systems may be more playable (even some of the mini-games from Dungeon magazine a year or so back - like Iron Lords of Jupiter, Pulp Adventures, Shadow Chasers, etc.).

I am hoping that future True20 supplements will be produced to expand on other genres.

Such was the intention of our setting search and I can tell you the submissions are quite diverse. We should have more news about the future of True20 soon.

I hope that there's a nice variety of settings in the print version of the game. At least one fantasy/S&S setting would be important, I think. (I know that BR already exists -- but an 'edgier', more Conan-esque setting for True20 would be nice.)

I'm looking forward to getting it! :)

Hmmm, what about a fantasy version of Pellucidar with orcs as the resident "savages" and quasi-dragons as dinosaurs? Not ERB, by the book, of course. :heh:

That would be possible, for an easy fix. Dragons are not included in the PDF, so they would need to be converted from the Monster Manual (the True20 PDF has conversion guidelines). You may be better off converting dinosaurs from the MM and giving them intelligence (either way).

Anyway, conversions seem simple enough to do (I haven't done any yet), but the flavor of ERB is what the GM has to bring to the game. If you can bring the flavor, then everything else is just dressing (heck, you can always use orc stats with ape descriptions).

It may not be the best system, but it is working for me. I just need to play more so that I can have more experience to draw from. Aside from my three fantasy campaigns, I am also running a post-apocolyptic campaign, but all of the campaigns have a combined seven sessions.

Pellucidar already has its resident monsters including lizard-men, snake-men etc. Bugbears work as Sagoths and I suppose orcs could be adapted to fit somewhere. And leave the dinosaurs as dinosaurs - they are a major feature of Pellucidar.
The place is big enough to add dragons as well if you want them...

The True20 Campaign Planner is pretty much specifically designed for planning and running fantasy games.

My only dig against the Planenr, which I bought last night, is that when I heard PDF forms I envisioned PDFs with Form Functionality enabled. Alas, it is print and scribble. Not sure how much I will use it, if at all, as I do pretty much EVERYTHING on my PC.
