TURTLEDOME!: Battle Bone (DM: KenHood, Judge: Lord S.)

[sblock=Hey!]I don't read other players' exclusive sblocks!
Seriously![/sblock]

Hadarai sighs again at the skeletons' insistence. All right. I suppose it's necessary. Before turning to the crowd, Hadarai closes up with Fred, Ned and Ted, and speaks in a VERY LOW voice: What amazes me is that the only stranger I don't wish to stab right now is a skeleton with three heads. Then he heads to the stage.

[sblock=ooc]let's do this. Uhm... I suppose anti-heroes are not really fashionable in Daunton, are they? Crap.[/sblock]

[sblock=it's a secret]Waaaah? Me? read... anyway, I didn't start until you posted something like "well, it's not like people don't do that..." then I figured I had to.
So should I post stuff to the peanut gallery thread? I might as well.

IC:

Emral looks at the Approvalmeter, and nods. He knows Hadarai needs ratings. This could go either way, but if they don't deal with it now they could lose the battle before it started, one groin-kick at a time. Let's do this!

ooc: Maaaaaaaaan. Skill challenges! Well, if it takes long enough, we might learn about what's going on with the other characters, so we can react.
How much of a time difference is there?[/sblock]

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I 'believe' you. ;)[/sblock]

Chicks dig bad boys. That's gotta be universal.

Unfortunately, you guys have the problem that EVERYTHING you've been doing for the past day and so has been broadcast to a whole lot of people. :uhoh:

And the opinions of those people has a direct effect on your combat performance.

And the majority of them are in the same social class as Marco... :.-([/sblock]

[sblock=Emral and Hadarai Only]You take your place on the stage, just as every banner in the room turns into a close-up of Hadarai's face, saying in a VERY LOW voice, "What amazes me is that the only stranger I don't wish to stab right now is a skeleton with three heads."

Ned, Ted, and Fred snicker as the Skull Lord steps back and makes an extravagant bow, giving you the floor.

The crowd looks hostile.

[sblock=FitD]I put the stats in because some of the races will have different than PHB stats so I included all for the sake of reducing confusion.

As far as traditional races go I'm going with mostly traditional, splitting elves into high and wood. And then I'm creating a race like I think Tieflings should be, dark and recently summoned from the pits of darkness. And then there are the Naari who are essentially like humans but they ate too much colloidal silver and as a result are all blue skinned... Not really with the colloidal silver but they are humans who are closely tied to the water, and over time they've changed a little. Haven't decided if they should have different stats than humans or not yet though... We'll see.

I changed something midway through, used to call the whole planet Synd and now it's just that continent, named it that because it was the first word that the Elves used to describe it. I'm going to add desert to the map after an event creates it, but right now it is a mix of forests, plains, and a swamp or too. On the map the darker green is forest while the black is swamp and then the rest of the green is just regular plains and smaller forests.

I like your setup with the planes and all of that, thinking of taking a different approach to that part of things but that's an interesting one, reminds me of these guys. Campaign Mastery game master advice [/sblock]

[sblock=Kenhood]This is what I was originally thinking, just not sure if it's possible. I can manifest these mage hands but are they essentially hands as far as size goes? Or can I force them inbetween the threads of the cord to seperate it into smaller strands? Not sure what the limit is of prestidigitation, could be a little too powerful... If I can't do that can I tell where the cord ends and begin to unravel it from there?

Drivan coughs, gagging slightly as 'TURTLEDOME!' flies from his mouth.

"Haven't you heard of honor among adventurers? And do you really think that lens would help? Who did your research? Didn't you know that those undead creatures react differently to radiance than normal?"[/sblock]

[sblock=Drivan Only][sblock=Reklaw]Sorry. I must not have been clear, trying to pull apart the rope with Mage Hand or telekinetic type movement won't work. You'll have to try a different method.

This is what I was originally thinking, just not sure if it's possible. I can manifest these mage hands but are they essentially hands as far as size goes?
Yes. That's how I understand the rule.

Or can I force them inbetween the threads of the cord to seperate it into smaller strands?
I could be wrong, but I don't believe that's possible with Mage Hand. The cantrip only creates a single, ghostly hand that can lift 5 pounds and manipulate objects.

The unfortunate thing for you is that you're stuck with a DM that does a lot of knot and cord work, thanks to martial arts and growing up a cowboy.

You can't separate a rope into its constituent parts from the middle. You can only do that from the ends. Then, the rope separates into strands, which separate into threads. The thread are breakable with a little bit of force.

You can only separate or untwine a rope as far as a knot, because the knot will prevent the threads from unravelling. In your case, you've got a lot of knots! Even if you could find an end of the rope, you would only be able to pull it apart as far as the first knot. And the 'first' knots are at the very ends of the rope to keep them from fraying.

So, you're stuck with three options for getting out: snapping the rope by overcoming its breaking strength (Athletics -- a Mage Hand is not strong enough), wriggling out of the rope (Acrobatics), or cutting the rope.

Not sure what the limit is of prestidigitation, could be a little too powerful...
Here are the limitations of prestidigitation...
Nothing you create with this cantrip can deal damage,
serve as a weapon or a tool, or hinder another creature’s
actions
. This cantrip cannot duplicate the effect of any
other power.

Things I've seen permitted with prestidigitation include creating flocks of doves, pulling rabbits out of hats, making little dancing men, and the like. It's pretty versatile and only limited by your imagination, as long as you stick within its limits.

And even with that, it may not be the way that you can get out of your situation.

If I can't do that can I tell where the cord ends and begin to unravel it from there?
There's no way for you to do so. Your hands are bound--not palm-to-palm, but back-to-back or knuckle-to-knuckle--so you can't touch anything. (To get the idea of this, place your hands behind your back and try to make the top parts of the hands touch one another.) You can't see because of the hood or mask or whatever occludes your vision.[/sblock]

"Haven't you heard of honor among adventurers? And do you really think that lens would help? Who did your research? Didn't you know that those undead creatures react differently to radiance than normal?"
"Please!" says Olivia in a sarcastic tone, "Honor among people who murder and steal for a living? Are you serious? Next thing, you'll be talking about fraternity and duty to humanity!"

"Our wizard did the research," she says, "Everyone knows that radiant energy wipes out undead. Who did your research?"

"Besides, it's not like we're doing you any real harm. All that will happen is that you miss out on some extra gold. Think of it as a learning experience."

Note: If you want your words to have an effect on her, you need to throw in relevant skill checks.[/sblock]

[sblock=Kenhood]Sorry, meant to make a bluff check but completely forgot about it at the end of posting.

The rope makes sense, understood!

Drivan sighs, "And who is your wizard? Some poor misguided soul off the streets who figured out how to read and thinks he can throw a fireball just like everyone else? Look, these undead are unlike any other undead, surely he figured that part out?"

"When they're attacked by any type of divine energy they multiply. It's almost like they feed off of the divine energy. The creator was from the Valley of Bone - I know, fitting - and some scholars surmize that he was a powerful cleric who used his divine magic in conjunction with a powerful relic."

Bluff roll = [14,1] = (15)+20 for wording? ;)

edit: Oh and can I use prestidigitation to remove the hood? :p Just thought of that, don't know why I didn't earlier.

[sblock=Hadarai and Kenhood (and no one else, not even when you're really curious...)]

Emral gets up in front of the crowd, taking a quick look at the other party members' views to see that they're alright. Thoughts of what to say to win the hearts and minds of Daunton rush through his head. Looking at Hadarai, remembering the harsh words spewed back and forth at that dinner with Marco, then remembering what this crowd has been reacting to, the Genasi knew what he had to do.

Is this thing on? tapping his throat to send a deep sound all over the pavillion. So you folks have been watching us through our own eyes for the last couple of days. I wish I'd known, or I would have taken more baths! (checkles)

I want to thank you all for this, and for coming out and cheering on a local guy like me when I take on the Legion of Bone!

"What? No. That can't be right."

"Would one of you guys go get Larry. This wizard's saying something I want double-checked."

"Sure."

You hear footsteps and a door open, then close.

--Bluff Check is a Success.--

You could use Mage Hand to pull off the hood. If so, I'll let you perform an Acrobatics Check with a +5 bonus to get it off. (The cords over your eyes and throat wrap around the outside of the mask.)[/sblock]

[sblock=fireinthedust]Good idea on the joke. You can either apply it as a success or provide Hadarai with a +2 bonus on his skill check when he uses his turn.[/sblock]
