TURTLEDOME!: Battle Bone (DM: KenHood, Judge: Lord S.)

Emral nods, thinking. Thank you.

Yes, Vaunea, that's exactly what we're going to do.

With that Emral rushes into the tent and takes a look at the screens. He's looking for anything with Marco or Drivan in them, and for what the world around them looks like.

I don't suppose we see the box in a room in Marco's house? Or Marco and the family there?

If we can't see them directly, we'll have to run to Marco's and try to pick up the trail.

The crowd cheers as your group enters the pavilion (except for the people hissing and making the sign of the evil eye at Hadarai).

Emral notices there is a significantly larger proportion of drunks in the tent. Perhaps it has something to do with evening.

(Can I assume that y'all have read the Emral's and Hadarai's posts, or do I need to describe the interior of the pavilion?)

Each of you experiences a vertiginous moment as you look at the screen that shows the image of all that you see, repeated in endless succession. Then, you notice the side-curtains have additional images. One image follows a halfling, swimming underwater. Another shows Marco's family tied up in a small room. Near the back wall of the room is a chest, wrapped in chains, bound with a padlock, and piled under additional chests.

From Drivan's point of view, that's probably where he's located.

You see another view of the exterior of an old shoppe. Through the windows, you see a half-orc and a goliath pace, occassionally checking the exterior. You also catch occassional glimpses of a human and a beautiful half-elven girl arguing with great vehemence.

The crowd becomes silent as your party studies the curtains with great intensity. It is as if they're waiting on pins-and-needles for your response...

"Small man. Vaunea watch. Find him. Get him." She looks at Emral, seeing what he is looking for. "Where shop? Maybe go there?"

With that, Vaunea sits down and studies the images as thoughtfully as she can. (which means she might need help from Emral ;))

[sblock=OOC]I haven't read any of that. All happened when I was out of town and moving. Made catching up quick.[/sblock]

The Description of the Pavilion's Interior (for those who missed it)...
This is copied from Hadarai and Emral's sblocks, so please forgive the non-appropo content.
Inside, you see several risers of bleachers placed against the back of the huge tent. Lower-class individuals and families sit in them. Some wave banners. Others carry signs. Some toss confetti in the air. Others blow on horns or beat drums. Kobolds carry various foodstuffs in boxes, tossing the items to people who call out and offer a copper piece or three.

In the middle of the tent, you see forty or fifty large tables. People of means--merchants and soldiers--sit in this section with their families and friends. Monsters push small carts laden with food, beverages, and souvenirs.

On the far wall is a large bar. Beside the bar is a large chalkboard, covered with a strange mathematical table.

The crowd roars and cheers. Several continue to do that peculiar action in which they wave at you, but look towards the front of the pavilion.

Smooth, white curtains--easily three or four stories tall--hang above a raised stage. You see images moving on the surfaces of the curtains. Above each curtain, you see an image of each party member. All have a smiling, eager expression, save Hadarai, who scowls.

Beside the large curtains hang smaller ones. Images move on these as well.

One of the smaller curtains shows Drivan and Marco reading books in the Daunton library. Another smaller curtain shows Vaunea and Finnian talking to Uncle Mikey in a dingy alchemist's laboratory. A third shows you, just as you are this very moment: standing in the midst of an adoring crowd. Other small curtains show the Legion of Bone in previous battles or training. A handful of curtains depict scenes from your battle with Cousin Eustace and the Origami Rats.

The large curtains...

Oh, dear!

When you look at the large curtain with your face above it, a sickening vertiginous feeling grips you, for you see an infinitely recursive image of the curtain inside the curtain inside the curtain inside the curtain...

You realize the curtain is showing what you see through your own eyes!

Drivan's shows his hands manipulating books, as he reads. Vaunea's shows the sky, as she looks outside the window in Uncle Mikey's lab. Finnian's has a close-up of Uncle Mikey, for the ranger listens intently. Hadarai's shows the Emral's backside, as the wizard stands in the hole to the pavilion, crowd thronging.

The sound is overwhelming. Not only can you hear the crowd, you can hear the crowd relayed through the curtains. The voices of those closest to you amplified. You hear the turning of pages, Uncle Mikey's confused speech... Not only do you hear the girl call for your autograph, at the same time, you hear her voice boom through the curtain!

In the center of the pavilion, floating near the ceiling, hangs a large, spiraled pole seemingly made from glowing crystal. The bottom of the pole has five red segments, the middle five yellow segments, and the top has five green segments. A dark red ball caps the base, while a transparent sphere caps the top. The segments of the pole glow brightly, almost all the way to the first green segment. However, periodic, angry red sparks occassionally dance around the pole and sometimes cause the level of light to dance downwards, only to surge back to its previous level.

*Sigh* I do wish Ata were playing, because we could have a lot of fun with Hadarai again.

[sblock=OOC]Wait...Ata is no longer playing? I missed a ton over those few weeks. What happened?

And what does the pole look like right now?[/sblock]

Emral looks at the shop interior, around the boxes, behind the halfling's family.

ooc: is this the Dusty Quill? If not, do I know where it is?

Emral also takes a look at the halfling's features.

ooc: does he have a family resemblance to Marco and/or Cousin Eustace? ie: do we have help from the inside for this one? hmmm.....

Look, I told you I can swim fine in this leather! I just got some water up my nose when... Well, never mind. I can swim, I tell you. Look kid, we'll have a race when I'm done alright. We'll see then who can swim...

At the sound of Finnian's voice, the group turns to see him red-faced as a small group of children tease him mercilously about his dive into the river.

Finnian hops up to the group, still pulling on one of his boots. He stomps his heel down into the bottom of the boot and then wiggles a finger in one ear, the elven features more prominent with his hair drenched hair plastered to his head.

I almost had that halfling. Just a hair more, really. Well, what can we do now?

Finnian looks past his companions to take in the screens that occupy their attention. The wave of vertigo causes him to sway as his head spins.

Wha-wha-what? Can we find Drivan on these? Maybe we should head back to Marco's?

is this the Dusty Quill?
No.

If not, do I know where it is?
Streetwise skill check.

does he have a family resemblance to Marco and/or Cousin Eustace?
You know how it is: All halflings look alike. (No. No resemblance.)

do we have help from the inside for this one?
Nope.[/sblock]The halfling continues to swim...

Emral keeps watching the screen the halfling is on, assuming that he will simply lead them back to the shop where Drivan is boxed.
He also looks at the shop itself, words painted on windows, whatever goods may be sold there, etc.

Note: I rolled before, acouple days ago I think, but I erased it when I realized there was a whole other page of posts to read. Like between 27, then I found 48, so I edited. I think it was an intimidate check on the halfling, as I was going to chase him, but then I saw he'd jumped in the water (fire, water, um no). I think it was a success, or a moderate success. 18, nothing great.

Ok, now to roll on Invisible Castle.1d20+4=8

sigh.[/sblock]

Do I get a bonus for looking at the goods in the store? What are they selling?
