"I will certainly go with you, though if the strangely painted folk attack again I probably won't be much more than another body for them to beat upon. I make a sorry warrior with my stick and my woven armor." Meg laughs, her seriousness passing as the danger fades. "But while we walk say more of these disappearances, for I am very new here."

"Yes, yes," Binkle says excitedly in response to Meg. It seems this unexpected action has awakened a previously unseen part of the gnome's persona. "Please do tell more of the disappearances...particularly of the children." The thought of little one's taken away from their parents gnaws at him.

"I am known as Eldar and I will accompany you to your temple." He says simply, "tell me about the missing children, I have just come to this city and do not know of what is happening here yet."

"Ah, yes. Meg is what most people call me. If you dislike that name, feel free to use another." She smiles, then adds, "I respond most readily to 'Help!'"

Toskar kept glancing back over his shoulder as they left the alley, as the image of the woman climbing the wall like a human spider disturbed him greatly.

'It may be nothing more than a parlor trick, but it still ain't natural.'

As Ruphus began speaking of the kidnappings, a cold chill went down Toskar's spine and the dwarf turned away once more to glance over his shoulder.

'It seems that this place has a hard time holding onto those who would live here.'

As he turned back to face the others while they walked, Toskar saw his empty stool in front of the bar as Ruphus asked the others could they escort him back to the church.

Clearing his throat to get there attention, Toskar wanted to assist them in what way he could, even though he knew he could not go withthem to the temple.

"Look, ye seem to be good enough people and all, and I wish I could go with ye to the temple, but my shift at the Tankard isn't over until the bar closes."

Toskar pointed to the bar so the others could see where and what he was talking about.

"I've been keeping the peace for them for almost two weeks, and I can tell you that these kidnappings ain't a new thing around here. People seem to be there one day and gone the next. No broken locks, no sign of a fight, nothing. Just up and gone. The local boys are trying to figure it out, but Cauldron is a big place and there are only so many guards to go around, if you know what I mean, but now with kids going missing, people are gonna get mighty antsy once the word spreads."

Feeling self conscious for talking so much, Toskar looked back to the bar for a moment and sighed.

"I better be gettin' back to the bar now, before the place erupts into a riot just to spite me. However, if you all want some dinner after you go talk to the Cudgels, come on by and tell them you are friends of Toskar's."

Wishing them the best inside, Toskar felt that his boots were filled with lead as he walked back towards the bar.

'Its all for the better...no need to plug a boat that ain't leaking.'

Brokkus agrees to follow the cleric to the church. On the way there, he introduces himself to the others.

Ruphus smiles gratefully, obviously quite pleased to have the company for the walk back to his temple. "The disappearances, yes," he replies somberly to your questions. "There's not too much more to tell. Several people have been disappearing over the last few weeks. People just up and vanish from their homes in the middle of the night, with no sign of break-in, no sign of struggle...just, the place is looted and the people are gone. The town guard hasn't been able to solve the mystery, and people are really beginning to feel on edge. It's like no place is secure."

Ruphus continues, visibly growing more emotional, "The disappearances from the orphanage, though...well, that was the last straw as far as Mistress Urikas was concerned. I mean...it had only been adults up until that point...and that's bad enough. But innocent children? We knew the church had to get involved, then. Someone's got to do something to put a stop to it! Of course...we also seem to have made someone rather unhappy in doing so."

The others make their farewells with Toskar, as he returns to his shift at The Tipped Tankard. It's a walk of only a few blocks from the tavern to your destination. The two-story church of St. Cuthbert, its white marble walls suffused with veins of vivid blue, stands in stark contrast to the buildings of bare black stone that flank it on the north end of Obsidian Avenue. A pair of white marble statues depicting armored warriors stand on either side of the temple's heavy oaken door. Each of the statues raises a great mace to the darkening sky. Above the door's marble architrave are boldly inscribed the following words in Common: WITHIN LAW LIVES HOPE. "Do you have time to come inside and meet with Mistress Urikas?" invites Ruphus.

Meg salutes the marble figures with her staff, then turns to Ruphus. "Certainly! And if I can, I will help your church stop these vanishings, for their purpose seems to be a dark one."

"I'll gladly accept your invitation," replies the gnome, always on the hunt for more information of any kind. "Name's Binkle, by the way. Binkle Tinkerdink." He pauses to read the engraving and enjoy the whole of the structure and the supporting statues. "Not a bad job. I don't suppose there were any gnome's involved in it's construction?"

Eldar studies the young cleric and the church of St. Cuthbert for a few moments and then nods to himself. "I will accept your invitation, perhaps this is the reason I am here."
