I would say lawful neutral. Neutral since he kills, but does not take joy in it - emotionless.

Evil--he cares nothing at all for those he murders. That's evil, not neutral. The opposite of goodness is not hatred, it's apathy.

"I don't care that I killed them, their lives meant nothing at all to me." That's about as evil as evil gets. Indeed, it is far more evil than "I killed them because it gets me all giggly and warm inside."

Does he have some kind of personal code that he follows (spoken or unspoken)? If he does, then he's Lawful; otherwise, I think he'd be Neutral.

I'd say NE, maybe CE but not likely. The thing is, with a personal unspoken code, he probably believes himself to be lawful. But killing people that just get in his way makes that iffy. Neutral Evil is the way to go with this one.

Unless killing people that get in his way is part of his code. In which case, that's Lawful.
