What do you think is the hardest AD&D or D&D video game fight?

I seem to remember the BBEG from Icewind Dale (or perhaps IDII) being hard to beat. In fact, there were a lot of difficult fights in that game.

The witch in Planescape: Torment was also a challenge. The BBEG at the end wasn't.

The frakking Nabassu from BG1: TotSC.

What does he have going for him? Well, he has a bunch of nasty paralyzing/death attacks that don't kill you right away, but kill you... erm later. He hits hard, he's hard to hit and if you kill him while the cultists are still alive, then they die and each one spawns another nabassu.

So you have to kill the cultists first then kill the nabassu. I reloaded so many times because he would death gaze my main character, I'd kill him, then my character would die. That sucked. And he casted dispel magic a lot too. :p

I'd forgotten that one! I'm still going to stick with my choice of Sarevok, but Aek'letek (or what his name was) does give you that nice feeling in the stomach of not really having any control over the battlefield

The dragon at the end of heart of winter was pretty tough, abusing anti-magic field and it's stupid high natural abilities if memory serves. The demon at the end of the 1st one was a joke, though...

Oh, I beat Morag with a straight wizard. It was pretty funny and sad, actually. She died chasing me in circles while my hench (the barbarian) pounded her to paste with his double axe. Nice way to go out, BBEG.

I made the mistake of saving after entering Morag's lair with just about half an allotment of spells. It took many tries before I managed to bring him down. I think it was just a a case of Morag eventually failing all his saves against a barrage of Horrid Wilting. A clear case of brute force as decipherers say.

In the first Pool of Radiance game you wound up having to beat down a group of 6 or 7 trolls as 1st-level characters.

I hated that game.

.

i loved it. it was 2-3 trolls and 2-3 ogres versus your 1st level party . cast sleep on the ogres and then shoot the trolls b4 the ogres woke up

I think there were some fights in the dragonlance goldbox games that were a nightmare. long time ago

my winner would be every fight in the eye of beholder 3 i think, stupid real-time 3-D dungeon cant press keys fast enuff.

I'm with Imp.

Pool of Radience was awful even after the suppossed patches. Some of those fights were darn near impossible. It was hard and bad. Not a good combination. I finally had to walk away in frustration.

In the Gold box version of Pool of Radiance there was a fight with a ton of orcs at Sokal Keep. Wouldn't be so bad if you were higher level, but a party of first level pc's against over 30 orcs is a bit harsh. (Okay, it's been about 20 years since I've played the game, and don't remember the exact number of orcs, but it's seriously well beyond any low level party of PCs...)

Oh I think I was about 2/3rds down when I got to her. You can't really avoid that because there are other powerful combatants in that section and you can't rest or leave the area. Plus I was an enchanter so my game was to hold or dominate the big fighters I came across, and summon elementals and Mordenkainen's swords to pitch in. Also, by that point in the game you should be practically overloaded with wands and scrolls. Did you have a hench?

Worst comes to worst, you can abuse darkness the way my fighter-sorcerer made a career of doing. I think he and Sharwyn beat Morag down in a straight-up fight.

I think re Pool of Radiance that the fights scaled up depending on how high your party's stats were. I know I had to bring down more than 3 trolls in that early fight...

Draaaacoooonis! *shake fist*

I know, you can just steal his head, killing him, but in a streight fight he's my BG2 bane.

The Balor in ToEE is pretty tough to.

BG2 Demilichs aren't that bad, as long as you have traps and berserking Korgan.
