D&D 5E What houserules do we assume is common in the community?

There are some popular houserules, like handwaving Ammo and carrying capacity, that the D&D community kinda assumes is common enough that if you were to walk into a random table, you could expect not to run the rules RAW.

What are those houserules and what do you think about the idea of houserules so common that you don't even ask your DM/tell your players about it?

I don't know how common it is but one I've seen a lot, and one that my group uses, is drinking a potion being a bonus action while administrating a potion to another character is still an action.

The one I've seen most commonly misremembered (which i guess is a form of house ruling) is surprise. So many players I've run for and GMs I've spoken with play it as a "surprise round." I have no problem with it, but it's not RAW.

I assume stealth will be fubar and handwaved.

I am almost never surprised. But when I am surprised .... it's a bonus round!

From the massive other thread, I think the "line of effect" concept that isn't explicitly called out in 5e spells is probably assumed by a chunk of users.

Not something we do, but it seems like a lot of tables play with an "everyone speaks common" presupposition.

I think much to the detriment of the skill system, we often see climbing and jumping use the best of Athletics or Acrobatics.

Flanking is one that a lot of players seem to assume is in play.
