D&D 5E What (if anything) do you find "wrong" with 5E?

Most of the best/most useful abilities are frontloaded which decreases the motivation for players to go beyond 7th level. (diminishing returns on getting to the next level)

Zero to hero can be achieved too quickly.

5E replaced the need to acquire magic items to gain power with magic-like abilities you gain by simply leveling up.

In 1E/2E the BBEG could go toe to toe with an entire party. In 5E, the BBEG needs to rely on minions, lair actions and legendary resistance in order to last more than 2 turns.

Gold with nothing to spend it on after a while.

That's not what the tweet says.

Is there any reason Dragonborn exists when Half-Dragon was fine? Or why you can't have a doll race but can have an action figure race?
Agreed w/ the point on the half-dragon, but I don't understand what a "combat doll race" entails that can't be covered by the warforge concept. When it comes down to it, they're both constructs that fight, so...

Well at a glance the half dragon thing does have some really uncomfortable issues that come with any “half” race. As in what was the nature of you red dragon’s father and human mother’s relationship?

By making Dragonborn an actual species they avoid a lot of the ickiness factor.

Additionally they avoid the very reasonable question of just how are you meeting significant numbers of half dragon people? There are actually enough half dragons out there to make towns? How does that work?

I don’t think we’re going to see too many half species in the game going forward.

As someone who is actually biracial, the chance at being a half-dragon is something I would much prefer. I can still do it with Dragonborn, but...I mean, half-elf is a race, half-orc is a race, lol

The only thing "wrong" with 5E is the Barkskin spell. :)
Whats wrong with barkskin?

I use the avatar as a protest to the whole "bad guys cant be bad for reasons" thing that's popped up in 5E lately
They can absolutely be bad "for reasons". It's bad "for no reason (other than perhaps their dark skin)" that is out of fashion, and rightly so.

Rather than ability damage, I'd rather see more long term conditions that have specific nerfs to stats. Depressed, terrified,, Awed, hamstrung. And make them require some sort of skill check to remove even with magic.
That is my preference these days as well. TBH, I thought 5e had that....

It's funny. Everyone keeps telling me that the caster imbalance is this big thing in 5e, and yet, when I asked about the top damage dealers in the game, most people tell me that it's the non-casters that are the top guns.
It's almost like caster supremacy never had anything to do with damage. No wait, it's exactly like that.

Heh heh... do not ask questions Ye are not prepared to receive answers for... ;)

(It's merely an issue some of us didn't like between what the spell does within the game world and the game mechanic used for the spell. You can try and search some Barkskin threads from like 2015 that had us arguing with others about it if you're really that curious-- but believe me, it ain't worth anyone's time to bother to do so. I don't even worry about it anymore, seeing as how I've yet to have a single player of mine ever actually take the spell over these last 8 years, so my issues with it might as well not even exist.)
