What impact would changing damage types have?

I've done the stats for wizard and warlock spells, which you might find interesting:

I kind of wish they had made some kind of conversion chart for the damage types to make character creation/building a little more flexible. I would be nice to have that kind of power to make a character more thematic.

Something like 1d8 fire damage = 1d6 cold damage = 1d4 radiant damage. Something that had kind of codified the worth of different damage types so that they could be easily swapped without destroying the system. Really it would just become a tradeoff of effectiveness of damage related feats versus the utility of having more diverse damage at your command.
