Obviously this will be skewed toward the first movie, but I'm curious as to what ratio. Oh what the heck I'll even throw the Animatrix in there.

I really liked the first, up to the ending. Number two and three look like their only reason for existance is to make money; cool effects, but little more.

Ooo...hard decision when you added "Animatrix" to the possible choices.

As far as the live-action goes, the first movie was my favorite. But I voted for Animatrix because it gave me so much extra after the first movie ran out of replay for me. I watched it too many times I admit.

I'll agree with 99% of that. I think the Wachowski Bros were actually trying to make good movies but they overbaked them. I lowered my expectations into the ground for the sequels and they barely hit the mark.

If I could choose 2, I would say the original and the Animatrix (voted for the original). I enjoyed it considerably more than either of the sequels even though it was just a bunch of shorts. They actually some of the creative spirit of the first film.

I voted for the first movie. The sequels failed to live up to the original (although they still aren't nearly as bad as some people claim that they are).

I voted for the original. I even liked Reloaded because it seemed to set up what could have been some really interesting plot points and conflicts in Revolutions which just didn't pan out. My order of preference would be:
1. Matrix (Didn't even really need sequels)
2. Reloaded (Gotta love that car chase)
3. Animatrix (Nice, but not necessary, and the quality varied a lot)
4. Revolutions (Worst. Trilogy wrap-up. Ever.)

The Animatrix gets disqualified for not being a movie, though Matriculated is so bad it would get last place anyway.

Revolutions gets third place, because the whole middle of the movie isn't not what I wanted from a Matrix movie and I could have gotten elsewhere.

I'm having trouble decided between the other two, though I'm leaning toward Reloaded just because the Matrix will garner the most votes.

I think that the first Matrix film is WAY overrated, even though I did like it. I felt that the other two live action films were just about as good as the first. I picked the first one in this poll because the action sequences felt more urgent and personal to the characters. In Reloaded and Revolutions I felt that the Wachowskis were trying a little too hard to make their main characters look cool. I was never really worried about Neo, Morpheus, or Trinity in the sequels the way I was in the first film. Agents USED to be scary--in the sequels they were barely speed bumps for all the emotional response they generate in the main protagonists.
