D&D (2024) What PHB races should have darkvision?

The only playable species which I believe should have dark vision are dwarves, but to be perfectly honest, I’d rather none of them have dark vision and the PCs rely on torches.

Okay, I’m not saying they don’t, but I’m actually having a hard time imagining what that looks like. Maybe some ruins?

Many reptiles sense more based on heat signature than reflected light.

Okay, so you’re saying that dragons have dark vision because they can sense heat like a pit viper and that Dragonborn should have that too because they’re all reptiles? I would think of that more as a form of blindsense, but it sounds okay to me.

When I think of Hell, I tend to think fire personally. I feel the need for tieflings to see in the dark is weak. Even weaker for Aasimar. Aasimar should be so luminous that they literally get rid of darkness merely by their presence.

Darkvision and light cantrip doesn't really make sense, does it?
