What RPG books/manuals do you really regret buying?

Umm, I've only ever bought the 3.0 core rules.

Back in 2nd edition days, I think the worst purchase was the "skills & powers". Great in concept, really great, but man did it churn out some unbalanced chainsaws.

I loved the PO/S&P system, it made AD&D worth using again... though it took some work to avoid complete brokenness, I'll admit that much... my god did my players construct some monsters... I think that the time they made a party of nothing but Priests that could demolish any challenge set in front of them I realized that it needed a little work...

Dundjinni Platinum (plus expansion) was a complete waste of $96.

I wish I could have that choice back again.
I got the Dundjinni plat set for about 40 bucks at Gencon Indy last year, so to me it wasn't a waste at all! I think I would rather have the CC set, but it is satisfactory for the price I paid. If I would have spent 96 bucks though, I'd be right there with you.

Worst purchase? Probably deities and demigods that I thought was an original. It was a great price for an original, but not that great for the reprint.

The Primal Order ... got psyched up about the series and bought them on EBay for
a ridiculous price. First book was 'ok' but the rest in the series were useless.
First Book gave some ideas but the mechanics weren't useful for me.

*shaking fist* Damn you EBay!

Make that four votes for DUNDJINNI.

A total waste. It runs for sh*t on my machine-- and my machine is no slouch.

When the whole point and promise of the program is all of the cool art sets you can get for it, and each art set you add causes the java based program to draaaaaaaaaaaaag to a crawl, that's a problem.

Although it never even ran on my system with just the default art packs installed.

Deities and Demigods
Monster's Handbook
The Encyclopedia of Demons and Devils (Thank god I sold it...)
Creature Collection I
Sword and Fist
Song and Silence (both of which I sold)

Yeah, that book had so much promise. As a big Elric fan, I offered to help Chaosium out on the mechanics side of things, but they did not take me up on that...

They dropped the ball real hard with their d20 products. I would have loved to see the dreamlands as a d20 or dual stat book. Or even just a d20 cthulhu monster book. Cool things that could have been.
