So you're now attributing imaginary motivations to my posts instead of accepting that you have no monopoly on verisimilitude, fun, or any other Truth.

Congrats, you've just made my ignore list.

Since it's up to any individual player to describe what type of vital spot it is

Uh, what? Since when? Where is THAT in the rules?

The DM makes those kinds of calls by default, as far as I can tell.

and the only killing blow is when hit points drop to zero...

If you do notably more damage with a blow, then by definition it's more likely to be a killing blow in this game than a blow that does less damage. That's how hit points work.

Citation please... I know I brought up what you listed as ways a rogue could learn about creatures but I'd like to see who (besides you) is claiming that the rogue has comprehensive knowledge of every creatures anatomy.

I've been careful to make it clear I don't mean comprehensive and just that they have a better chance than those who do not have any knowledge of it. So, stop that please. Ad for your quote, here it is:

No the anatomy explanation does work since the assumption of the PHB is that the rogue has trained for years before he starts adventuring and he could have easily come across legends, old adventurers, guild masters, assasins, etc. that have this knowledge and may have imparted it by the time he starts adventuring... and whose to say everything he knows or says is correct, or if everytimg he tries the rogue strikes true??

This "example" doesn't in any way support your claims,

I didn't state the example to prove anything other than to provide a jumping off point for this discussion. All I said was we already have an example to discuss so you don't need to add analogies to discuss it.

it's just a situation you've created that gives no reasons for a rogue who can SA being learned in the general anatomy of a monster... at least no more so than any other adventurer who regularly slays and kills the same things... We all know where and how to kill things!!

So the rogue does not know where vital areas of a monster are better than others, after you said they have all this knowledge handed down from other specialists to justify they anatomy explanation?

Yeah, moving target....not a game I want to play.

You know what? A number of you are being really rude to each other.

Have it your way. If you cannot treat each other civilly in the conversation, you won't have the conversation. Thread closed.
