Okay I gotta creative rogue, but that's a good thing. However, I have a quick question. If using shirukens, does he get THREE!!!! sneak attacks? I mean, there are three different shirukens being thrown...

One sneak attack damage per attack(so one out of the three shurikens...I'd go with IceBear on this and make it the first). Same goes with spells that fire multiple missiles(like Flame Arrow). I can't back that up with a rules quote...so you can take that with an IMO...but I certainly don't think the designers intended rogues to get more than one sneak attack damage per attack.

The shuriken is mentioned specifically as a sidebar in Sword and Fist. As for the spells, I think they discuss this in Tome and Blood.

IceBear

There are only three weapons that I know of that can grant two separate sneak attacks with one iterive attack - crescent knife, scourge and a twin sword/axe/etc. Every weapon that does this requires an exotic weapon prof and for the twin sword/axe/etc. both attacks have to hit for either to do damage. The reason for the two separate sneak attacks is that each of these weapons allows you to roll multiple attacks in place of each normal attack you would make. So the crescent knife has you roll two attacks resolving each separately for every attack you get. Note that the crescent knife and scourge only do 1d3 dmg with critical = 20/x2

I would rule that the first shuriken to hit would get sneak attack damage... The other hits would get none...

It's still a great weapon for rogues... If a rogue throws three shuriken, misses with the first and second, but hits with the third, he still gets his sneak attack damage... Pretty good for a class with a medium BAB that wont always hit...

Also remember this is a ranged weapon, so it can only be done once or twice while your opponent is flatfooted... Invisibility is a different story, but that grants its own bonuses...

I had totally forgotten about the scourge!... Is that printed anywhere besides the old Dragon article?... My rogue is definitely going to find one of those ASAP...

... but, don't you throw them all at once? from between the four fingers on your hand, as i understood it, not one after the other. so either they all get sneak attack, or one ... right?

HAHAHA!!
Paging Caliban.... Dr. Caliban, your services are needed.
:)
No, really, the reasoning why the shuriken are only allowed one sneak attack per volley is because they say you can only properly aim one of the three.

Same thing with Weapon Specialization and Ranger's Favored Enemy bonuses to damage, BTW.

Trust me, I went round and round figuring out the damage for shurikens in my Shuriken smack (see Sultans ofSmack in the Rules Forum)

also, i believe they finally clarified it in the Sage FAQ that came out a couple months ago.
