My Hill Dwarf cleric has a 20CON and the Toughness feat. He was built to stand on the front line and take hits from the monsters to give the paladin time to kill everything. I get a lot of use out of the healing spell that does damage to the caster to heal 2X the amount to another character because I have so many HP to burn through.

all my characters except 2 had 14 con.
I had a monk with 12 and a barbarian with 16.

from the looks if it, we can delete CON as a stat, give everyone +2 HP per level and move all CON saves to STR.

as most of those 14, especially after Tasha's came from 13+1 racial we can use 13(5pts) and reduce point buy pool to 22 pts and have 5 abilities.

For me on most characters it is a 10. If I am playing a Rune Knight it is usually a 14, on Clerics, Fighters and Rangers I expect to be in melee a lot it is typically a 12. Bards, Rogues, Wizards (including Bladesingers), Sorcerers, Warlocks and non melee Clerics, Fighters and Rangers usually a 10.

I don't generally play Barbarians, Druids, Artificers or Paladins.

I have rolled up 5E characters with a 15-18 Constitution, but I don't think I have ever played one on point buy and I don't think I ever put an ASI towards con (although I did plus up an odd con with a half feat once). There has to be a really compelling reason for me to put points into con, because it is by far the least useful ability in two of the three pillars of the game.

My recent/current PCs:
Zeek - Scout 7/Twilight Cleric 2 - 10
Tazzi - Bladesinger 10/Arcane Trickster 4 - 12 (rolled stats)
Xane 1 - Arcane Trickster 4/Fighter 2 - 10
Xane 2 - Arcane Trickster 3/Shadow Sorcerer 1/Fighter 2 - 10
Isi - Rogue 1/Rune Knight 5 - 14
Chromescale - Fey Wanderer Ranger 8/Whispers Bard 4 - 10 (19 with amulet of health)
Jexri - Bladesinger 9/Undead Warlock 2 - 10
Rinn - Monk 1/Bladesinger 2 - 10 (score at the time of her death)
Midnight - Undead Warlock 5/Shadow Sorcerer 1 - 14 (rolled stats)
Dezi - Tempest Cleric 6/Fathomless Warlock 1 - 12
Jia - Wizard 1/Undead Warlock 1 - 10
Afelia - Bladesinger 8 - 12 (rolled stats)
Taslania - Fighter 6/Hexblade 2 - 15 (rolled stats)
Jim - Swashbuckler 5/Ranger 1 - 14 (rolled stats)
Leena - Rogue 1/Fey Wanderer 14 - 10

I'm the same with point buy, normally I'll have a 10-12 in constitution when using point buy because I want higher stats in other more useful abilities. The only times when that will change is when I'm making a barbarian, in which case I want a fairly decent constitution, or a chain shirt. On rare occasions I armour up my barbarians instead of boosting con.

Not surprised to see 12, 14, and 16 leading the pack. I am surprised to see I'm the first to have an 8 Con character out of ~75 votes. Yes, if was a min-maxed character in a level 20 one-shot. How did you know?

As far as my last few characters are concerned.

Cha’ka, my mechanical werewolf Thri-kreen Machinist Artificer (homebrew artificer somewhat like the Battle Smith) ended the campaign he was in with a 20 Con.

Corvus Stygian Featherbloom, my Raven Aarakocra Scout Rogue/Fey Wanderer Ranger ended his campaign with a 16 Con.

Urdnot Bakara, my Tortle Artillerist Artificer only had a 14 Con by the end of her campaign.

mostly as people believe and correctly, that 8 Con character would not survive transition between tier1 and tier2 of play.
