Which race do you HATE to play?

The most annoying race?

  • Dwarves -- haven't we had enough of bad Scottish accents?

  • Elves -- these supercilious tree-huggers need to have their long lifespans shortened.

  • Gnomes -- they belong in my garden, not in my game.

    Votes: 104 33.3%
  • Half-elves -- the worst of both worlds. And boring to boot.

    Votes: 37 11.9%
  • Half-orcs -- their grunting grates. And the breath!

  • Halflings -- if we could just call them "Hobbits" they would be okay.

  • Humans -- I play one in real life, why play one in a game?

I'm not sure where the flighty fey idea originated (old stories of the fey and sidhe were definitely NOT like that -- they were pretty grim), but it bugs me.
One word: Shakespeare. Especially with that ditz Titania. :p

I like playing good guys and I also like to play according to the stereo types. I therefore can't bring myself to imagine a half-orc that's anything better than chaotic neutral in alignment. Also I don't view CN as meaning you are free to do whatever you want. I view it to mean your character must behave erratically which isn't conducive to enjoyable roleplaying sessions in the long term.

Trevor doesn't read this board, but I want you all to know that Trevor, in the guise of "Sir Dittymus, Slayer of Tarrasques," ruined gnomes for everyone.

So shake your fist at Trevor and curse his name. I know I do.

Half-elves.
If you are going to be elf-like, go whole hog! Be an entire
elf! They aren't even good for powergaming.

Now gnomes kick major booty. In my homebrew I have gnomes
as David the Gnome types with Druid as their favored class.
They live in the woods, take care of the trees and animals,
and have the squirrels and badgers scouting the forest for
them. The PCs know if they hear a rustle in the brush and it
is just a racoon, do not relax. You're on candid camera...

I voted dawrf. Not that I dislike them, but everyone in the group -including the guy who DMs on the few occasions when I'm not the DM- expects every dwarf character to be a hard-drinking version of Gimli, whit no interests except everlasting quests for an even bigger axe and an even stronger mead...
