I liked playing all the versions, but I play 3.5, though I think 3.0 was my favorite, but that's a matter of personal taste.

I know if they come out with a 4.0, I'll start buying books for that and playing that version instead

My group only plays 3.X right now but I'd really like to get my group to try either a Rules Cyclopedia or AD&D 1E game. Not sure which though

AD&D 1E had a certain charm to it, but personally I think the Rules Cyclopedia edition of OD&D was a more fun game.

Me, I despise the RAW previous to 3.0...bizarre, contradictory, and 9 times out of 10 in serious need of houseruling in one form or another. What kind of save is that, again? Oy.

That said (before Akrasia or Chainsaw Mage decide to lambast):

3/3.5e setting from WotC, along with most of the WotC-produced books, just don't get my motor working. There's some incredible 3rd party stuff out there, but for in-house produced campaign material, nothing WotC's done matches the venerable Expedition to the Barrier Peaks, settings like Ravenloft or Planescape or Dark Sun, or the old Dragon Magazine. The sad thing is, many of the very best settings and adventures came out in a time where TSR was being used as a tax shelter, thus producing all the really, really good stuff at a loss.

the question isn't what you like.

the question for the poll is what you are currently Playing of the editions released prior to 2000.

is it that difficult to answer???

Well, diaglo, to answer your post here - I use elements from previous editions for setting material. It's not difficult to answer at all.

Edit: Please try and stay civil, even if you don't like the answer, 'k? Thanks.

Let's not turn a simple poll into an opportunity for people to go for each others' throats. Civil discussion, please. (And no "edition wars", as I hope it goes without saying.)
