Wizards In Winter - Low-Level Thread (DM: Son of Meepo, Judge: TwoHeadsBarking)

GM: Pliantreality PM'd me. His computer is kaput and he thinks it will be a week before he gets it back. I will take his turn for him when I have a little more time unless someone else wants to. I know he was planning to charge the dragon last turn, but he could always do something else instead.

OOC: Lenyara didn't shift at the end of her turn, so that Nalkyr's charge lane would be clear. Depending on his luck with the start-of-turn checks, it might make better sense for him to move up, then attack with Twin Strike- which is much better than charging for a regular ranger. Anyone else have an opinion? I am willing to put a turn together for him, if needed.

Potential turn for Nalkyr

Nalkyr set his feet against the rush of wind- once there was a brief lull in the gusts around him he rushed forward to engage the dragonling. His slashing feyblades were a nearly invisible blur, cutting deeply into the creature's hide.

OOC: Sorry for the lack of stylish prose- but it will let us move things along

[sblock= OOC]
>Start of turn: Athletics DC 13, 1d20+10= 26 (pass); roll Roll Lookup

>Move: walk to P 6
>Standard: Twin Strike at dragon (vs. AC); 1d20+ 10 (twice, includes CA from prone)= 25, 25 (hit twice for 7+5= 12 damage); rolls Roll Lookup

>Minor: Off hand strike at dragon; 1d20+10 (vs. AC, includes CA from prone)= 25 (hit for 10 more damage); roll Roll Lookup

>Wonder what the odds are of making three identical attack rolls (25, 25, 25)?

Icicle Swarm

The shards of ice dart in and out, piercing Lenyara's flesh once more.

[sblock=Actions]Move: Q8 (Elevation 0).
Standard: Icicle Stab
Attack: Melee 1 (one creature); +11 vs. AC
Hit: 3d6 + 4 cold damage. On a critical hit, the target is immobilized (save ends).
Effect: Before or after the attack, the swarm can shift up to 2 squares.
Back to S10 (Elevation 2).

Damage;Attack (Lenyara) (3d6+4=10, 1d20+11+2=25) (HIT)[/sblock]

Yeti

The yeti thumps his chest and runs through his enemies. Caim tries to swing at him as he goes by, but all she can do is to get out of the beast's way. Noctua is not so lucky and disappears in a shower of spring flowers. Merri, however is able to get out of its way.

[sblock=Actions]Standard: Trample
Effect: The yeti shifts its speed and can enter enemies’ spaces during the shift. Each time the yeti enters an enemy’s space for the first time during the shift, it makes the following attack against that enemy. Shifts to M8.
Attack: Melee 0 (one creature); +8 vs. Reflex
Hit: 1d6 + 4 damage, and the enemy falls prone.

Caim (Combat Challenge): Twisted Eye (Augment 1) (1d6+4=10, 1d20+7=10) (MISS)

Damage;Attack(Caim, Noctua, Merri) (1d6+4=7, 1d20+8=10, 1d6+4=10, 1d20+8=20, 1d6+4=6, 1d20+8=11) (MISS, HIT, MISS)[/sblock]

Dust Devil

The winds pick up again, unleashing another small tornado. It kicks up dust and debris, keeping Merri and Marrgash blinded, but the winged creature is quick enough to hide behind the Dragonborn.

[sblock=Actions]Appears in K12
Standard: Stinging Sands
Attack: Close burst 2 (creatures in the burst); +4 vs. Fortitude
Hit: 10 damage, and the target is blinded until the end of the sprite’s next turn.

Attack(Merri, Marrgash, Chupacabra) (1d20+4=16, 1d20+4=22, 1d20+4=9) (HIT, HIT, MISS)[/sblock]

White Dragon

The white dragonling takes a last desperate action, blasting those in front of it with cold, but this time both Nalkyr and Lenyara are prepared.

[sblock=Actions]Move: Stand
Standard: Breath Weapon
Attack: Close blast 4; +2 vs Reflex;
Hit: 3d6+4 cold damage, and the target is slowed and weakened (save ends both).

Damage;Attack (Nalkyr, Lenyara) (3d6+4=13, 1d20+2=9, 1d20+2=14) (MISS, MISS)[/sblock]

MAP

Lenyara gave a shrill howl of pain as the icy creature attacked, but she kept her attention on the dragon. Despite her injuries, she was able to wrench the creature to the ground once more, and a quick stab made sure that it would stay down this time. Then she limped over towards the furry creature, ready to help her companions bring that beast down as well- but between her injuries and the unfamiliar icy ground, she slipped and fell to the floor.

OOC: Should I do a round for Nalkyr again?

With the kind of agility one expected of an eladrin, Nalkyr danced numbly across the icy uneven ground. He spun his matched swords in a hypnotic pattern, drawing the attention of the Yeti- and then he struck. His first swing cut through the creature's ice-coated hide, but his second was not as accurate, cutting only air.

Caim pursues her quarry through the buffeting winds, furious that it had been able to escape her. Her blow is parried, but it leaves her a more tempting target, and Caim prepares herself to intervene should the beast attempt to attack one of her friends.

[sblock=Actions]*Athletics vs Wind FAIL, slide->I4

[sblock=Out-of-Turn Action Conditions]Caim will always use Blurred Step if doing so does not distance her from an enemy which she considers significantly higher priority than the enemy triggering Blurred Step. Caim will use Guardian's Counter at the first opportunity.

If Caim's Combat Challenge is triggered by a melee attack from a credible threat, she will use Eldritch Strike as her Melee Basic Attack, and on a hit she will slide the attacker away from the target to invalidate the triggering attack.

If Caim can make a Melee Basic Attack outside of her turn against a credible threat (if her Combat Challenge is triggered by a shift, for example) and she has Power Points remaining, she will spend 1 to augment Twisted Eye to use in place of her MBA. If she has no Power Points remaining, she will use Eldritch Strike. Note that Blurred Step and Combat Challenge may both activate at the same trigger.

Enemies are not credible threats if I am aware that their ability to move and act freely is far less harmful to the party than is that of other monsters on the board. Caim would not use Eldritch Strike on a Minion when she also has a Skirmisher marked, for example.[/sblock]

Flying low to avoid the worst of the winds, the small fey latches on the yeti's foot and bites one of it's toes savagely. The yeti howls and jumps trying to get rid of his attacker.

Ilex braces against the wind but her light frame, even in the corner, offers no protection. It's as if the wind is trying to keep her from her the rope and thus her companions. Luckily though it was not able to push her onto the ice. She moves back to the rope and manages to find foot holds in the icy rock corner and climbs up.

Not wanting to stay near the cliff face, Ilex moves up around the corner stoping just short of the ice. Ilex uses her spellbinding beauty to gain an advantage over the icicle swarm before summoning an extra burst of energy to unleash a stone blood spell at the swarm, breaking some of the shards and slowing it down.
