Now that sounds like fun. Hope it went well. I haven't played Cyberpunk for around 15 years... Sigh.

I poisoned half the people there.... they're not used to fatty/greasy foods anymore and well... KFC is all kinds of grease. However we got three of five characters generated. And we're playing classic (for the players) character types.

Wizkids has now officially cancelled the Battlestar Galactica CCG, which they only launched about a year ago. Of course this announcement comes several weeks after the latest expansion was supposed to have released, so its not particularly surprising to those of us who are used to the way the company's now being run.

Well - best to talk about it here then :) You certainly can't talk about it there - not in any meaningful way.

Wizkids forums are all entirely moderated now. They now have to pre-approve every post before it is displayed. Forum conversations are frequently delayed by DAYS. In the meanwhile, Wizkids deletes anything negative about the company or its products. You simply won't see it online on their site.

They have also deleted links to press releases located off site posted by their publishing partners and licensees. It's insane.

Their policy is, beyond any shadow of a doubt, the most fascist policy on an internet forum I have ever encountered. That statement stands without qualification.

Their forum policy has angered me so much, I totally regret buying their games and will not buy any more of them. Furthermore, I would urge fellow ENWorlders to not buy this company's products until they clean up their act.

Seeing as I dropped about $400.00 on PotSM last month - the loss is entirely theirs.

Wizkids? Screw em!

It is indeed.

I have half a mind to start a good rant about it here on its own thread just to embarrass them.

They actively refuse to approve critical posts - even on a thread asking how to improve their forums in their own meta forum (I know - I tried).

The policy has destroyed meaningful discussion on their forums. It's like trying to talk to someone in Apple's Mac & PC ad:

You've got this tall dark sunglasses security guy standing there who has to relay and approve the message before it gets anywhere. Except - this one has an arm band on too.

This has been pawned off on the site as a new policy in place because of Spam and internet pr0n. I don't buy it for a second. I have seen the policy of censorship in action with my own eyes. This is about marketing and spin.

Nope. I'm done. Regrettable - they got some of my money. The bastages won't get one single nickel more though.

Really, I'll have to look into this. I'm active on the forums and certainly haven't seen this, but I don't visit the public areas of the site. All my general conversations are on the fan site CMGRealms (a host of sites that started with MKRealms back in the day). If it's true, I find it very surprising and will pass my comments onto the PTB.

Edit: I checked with someone I know who frequents the regular forums. One comment he made was "believe me, they are not refusing to post negative comments." He believes there are only one or two moderated forums, but he's not certain.

I have posted on the meta forum - moderated - deleted. And again - no post.

I have posted on the Pirates forums - moderated.

Here's a flavor of it: http://forum.wizkidsgames.com/showthread.php?t=146529&page=4&pp=15

How about making it so that mods don't have to look over every single post made?

It completely destroys discussions. Regardless of whether it's for these 'spambots' or not, I feel that it's a turn in the wrong direction. If there's a spambot, then just lock/delete the thread. While it's harder than it sounds, it is definitely a lot harder to mod EVERY FRICKIN' POST that is made.

Or this one?

Make em more fun??? Bring back spell check, bring back the edit button, stop sending all of the posts to the moderators.

Need some more?

Get rid of the stupid pre approved posts things, it's absolutely killing the Pirates General Discussion. A forum is supposed to be quick not like email where you have to wait hours to see anything back from a post. I don't really understand why you guys have made the decision to look at every post that gets posted but it's really ruins the "fun" of the forum atmosphere.

etc.

See? Now that's not fun... I quoted munchoboy and after hitting "submit" I was taken to the - Thank for replying, blah, blah, blah message, then taken to the GD listing. Why? Why couldn't I just be taken back to the thread?

I'm not on many forums, but the WK site is just downright mindboggling and frustrating too many times... I know you guys are trying to protect copyrights, ideas, and information, but sheesh. Just 2 of my sense.

Your friend is mistaken. They are all moderated. And they refused to post mine. I strongly suspect I am not alone.

However - your asking a friend is the closest thing Ive got to "feedback" on this at all Glyfair. Which is a thanks to you - but is itself a revealing thing. I had to go off-site and private e-mail a developer at Studio 2 to get any feedback at all on the Pirates RPG or scenario book. Why? Because they deleted two of his original posts on the Wizkids Pirates forum.

Seriously - these bozos lost my business over this. I don't know what moron thought this was a good idea - but he never dealt with customers in his life.

This may be a matter of misinterpretation. By "not moderated" in this point I mean that posts immediately appear on the forums. All the forums have moderators who might remove or otherwise moderate posts.

I have at least one person who assures me that the Heroclix forum isn't. There are some who feel it's over moderated, but you can directly post to the forum without needing approval.

Now it's possible that, to avoid spam, they have setting such that those with low post counts might automatically be moderated. On a site I moderate we discussed anti-spam measures and this came up. Instead we decided to set it so that members with low post counts can't start new threads. Most spambots don't post inside existing threads (yet, anyway).

This is all just my antecdotal experiences, so take it with a grain of salt...

Becaause I really don't even give WizKids any thought anymore; I'm sure their SW game will sell passably, but it won't change my general opinion of the company or get me to play their version of SW.

I've moved away from WizKids products slowly but surely over the years, for a number of reasons. (Sure, company decisions factored in to a degree, but mainly it's that my tastes have changed over the last few years.)

When MageKnight first came out?
I was seriously hooked, to the tune of hundreds of dollars. (Actually, it was probably cosidferably more than that, all told.)

Then, they largely invalidated all the pre-exisiting figures with the new upgrade, and I stopped buying. (COntinued playing for a short time afterwards, but eventually gave up.)

Then came HeroClix; again, I was hooked, to the tune of hundreds of dollars and multiple expansions. But again, I became dissatsified (The Marvel love over DC, the (IME) uneven distribution, the cycling out of old sets, and the continous revamps of characters.) Sure, it's apparently a natural progression, but there's other things I can spend my money on without feeling the need to "Keep Up".

And then came BSG.
A show I love; how could they miss the mark with the CCG? But apparently they did. I bought a starter and maybe 20 boosters, and realized that it just wasn't for me. The game didn't flow smoothly, the mechanics were clumsy and uninituitve, and there was relatively few people playing it (and I live in Boston, where there's quite a number of game shops within a short distance!).

And I never really had an interest in any of the Pirates games, or HorrorClix. ("Slasher"? "Werewolf?" "Clown"? Really? Was it not possible to get Cthulhu figs licensed?)

Their forums?
I gave up on them long ago, before this "moderation" truly started, so I can't accurately comment on that particular issue.
