10) There's nothing silly, there. Though there is a lot of exposed skin - he's getting sacrificed. But I see your point - you could raise the same issue that it wouldn't be fair if it was reversed. On the other hand, his positioning - and the mood of the piece - and the fact he has some severe modesty there, it isn't sexualized.
To me that one looked like it was giving a nod to the old Eldritch Wizardry cover.

I've you've managed to "prove" that everything is equal because male art sometimes has sleeveless armored vests, while women's armor has holes cut straight out of the sternum so their boobs pop through, you've become too clever for your own good. You've "proven" that there is no problem by creating a test which carefully refuses to measure what's actually important.

I'm not a woman, but I'm pretty sure that a visible upper arm doesn't quite equate to a shirt with a boob hole cut into it.

Yup. Just some forearm.

Don't sit there and tell me that you weren't talking about forearms after almost a dozen forearm pictures and three or so pages of text discussing forearms.

I am, and I've played some pretty scantily dressed characters, including a barbarian/rogue (from Chult in a FR campaign) who dressed in a loincloth. And, one of the only reasons I actually put her in any kind of armor later on in the campaign was that I found a mini that I really liked where the character had some armor.

My wife, passing by my computer screen, has officially declared the above picture "hot".

I don't know what that means to our discussion, but I thought it needed to be stated.

Hopefully something fun for you? ;)

... but no details please, -- N

I have unfortunately not had as much time to respond to this thread as I would have hoped today (work, whatcha' gonna' do?) but I just wanted to say that the comments about Monica Bellucci as an example of modest behavior and dress are really off-base. Monica Bellucci is an amazing woman: smart successful, and VERY sexy. She often appears naked or in revealing outfits in both movies and her modeling career. See her in Brotherhood of the Wolf (where her naked body is used to fade to a winters hillside) and Shoot 'Em Up where she dresses extremely seductively for much of the film...and also has a nude scene.

Not exactly the poster child for prudish behavior. However, if you read some of her interviews about the world of modeling and fashion, you'll see that this is a very bright, strong-willed woman.

I don't think anyone's been arguing she's modest. I posted a picture of her in order to provide an example of why I thought a woman could still be sexy while not showing much skin; others responded by posting pictures of her in her Cleopatra costumes in the Asterix film. Apparently the fact that she's bared skin in other pictures means the particular pic I chose can't serve as an example of a mostly covered yet sexy woman and I have to approve of D&D art with the CMB.

Nifft posted a lot of pictures of ugly men who maybe bared a bit of arm and chest, but can someone find official D&D art that resembles this?

Handsome man, mostly naked, intended to be eye candy. There's quite a bit of difference between this and the elf with a vaguely detailed naked body not seen from the front and a furious expression at being sacrificed.

For equality, where is the hotness? Fugly muscled dwarves or wizards showing off their pasty skin doesn't quite count as balance. It's like saying "The movie has a shirtless Philip Seymour Hoffman, so you'll like it just as I'll like watching his costar Jessica Alba in a bikini!" - well, no. Make it Brad Pitt and Alba, and you'd have a point. But who would seriously try to claim that PSH's appeal is in his looks? He's a good actor, he's not an ugly steroid monster, but he's not exactly attracting fangirls or dominating Sexiest polls in magazines and it should be obvious to anyone who's seen a pic of him.

Art is relatively easy to talk about because everyone can upload or link to pics, but maybe there are other topics, too?

Iconic characters in 4E? Lidda seems to have been a big fan favourite. I expect that if they only have one iconic per class they might not want to have a female rogue because 3E had such a popular one.
