I've not seen any "rougly equal" number of silly male outfits, actually.
Why does it need to be roughly equal? Are you suggesting that there is a roughly equal market demand for each? Or are you suggesting that WotC should ignore the market in favor of your personal sensibilites?

I agree that WotC are a lot better than, say, previous RPG companies, but I still have a problem with them having an uncharacteristically hookerplate-armoured person on the front of the bloody 4E PHB. I'm not sure how that's difficult to understand.
"Hookerplate"????

It seems to me that you are imposing implications that are rather radical interpretations of what is really there. Toning it down to a more reasonable view and less knee-jerk over reaction may be a good thing.

Seeing an attractive women dressed to support her atractiveness does not make me instantly conclude that she is a whore.

Experiences may vary, but, for what it's worth, the inverse relationship between amount of clothing worn and promiscuity was a very widely-accepted myth when I was in high school. It's immature, yes, but the attitude exists.

Adventurers go into dungeon, come out of dungeon, then go to town, where they use the nonmagical treasure to buy ale and pay to rape women in brothels. Heck, there's even a handy table in the old DMG so adventurers can know exactly what type of women they get to rape.

Please do not belittle the seriousness of sexual assault by equating prostitution with rape. Prostitution is an exchange of money for a service. EVERYBODY does it, only we use different body parts. Maybe you've had a bad experience with the sex indusrty; many women do, but many others don't. For women in a pre-industrial society, prostitution was often an empowering choice. Pimps were rare in the Middle Ages, when they even existed, and the average prostitute had much more freedom and mobility than the average wife of any social class. Medieval prostitution was often a demeaning and harsh occupation, but it was still better than the peasant life that 80% or more of the population led. The Courtesans of Venice, on the other hand, were among the most learned and wealthy women in Europe. Yes, forced prostitution exists, and has always existed. Almost every occupation in human history has been the subject of forced labor and slavery. It is not just women who are exploited and abused. Do you really want to know the conditions under which the beans for your coffee and chocolate were grown? How about the conditions under which the raw materials for your jewelry were mined?

Nifft posted a lot of pictures of ugly men who maybe bared a bit of arm and chest, but can someone find official D&D art that resembles this?
I took a look inside the BoED, because I assume the art in there is intended to be handsome.

Iconic characters in 4E? Lidda seems to have been a big fan favourite. I expect that if they only have one iconic per class they might not want to have a female rogue because 3E had such a popular one.
See, IMHO this is a flaw in the "oh too sexy" argument. The only two hot Iconics in the PHB are Lidda and Vadania, both of whom are also among the most clothed Iconics.

Some recent subjects are starting to veer into the political arena so let's don't do that, m'kay?

BTW, if some PC are using the services of protitutes, all PC are murdering people. He can wave a "lawful good" tag as much as he can, the best paladin of D&D would probably have a lot of legal problems in our modern society... D&D is not about playing progressive or liberal characters ( or conservative ones, or whatever related to real life) : it's about imaginary stereotypical characters in a fantazy world.
