"Worst" non-core party?

Nyaricus

First Post
So, the Best non-core party thread was getting a bit OT, so here's a forked thread for your perusal.

What's the worst combination of classes, non-core?

A short list of the bottom rung, IMO:

Arcanist
Spellthief (ComAdven)
[any other ones worse than this for ancanists? - does spelltheif even count?]

Priest
Healer (MHB)

Rogue
Ninja (ComAdven)
Soulknife (XPH)

Warrior
Marshal (MHB)
Swashbuckler (ComWar)
Hexblade (ComWar)

---------------------

I'm thinking the worst party would have
*Spelltheif (ugh... headache in a handbag)
*Healer ("the girlfriend class")
*Ninja (Like a rogue. But worse.)
*Swashbuckler (A 20 level base class - in 3 levels!)

cheers,

Hmm, easier than best

Samurai--I can swing a sword, but no one is really sure how, or why I bother.

Spelltheif--Am I a caster, or a rogue, or a sneaky type? I am so confused???????

Diviner--I know what is going to kill us, but I cant do anything about it.

Dragon Shaman --I can heal you up to 50% but then you are on your own

With diviner be sure to give up a critical school like conjuration, preferably. Though evocation is nice. Be sure to take the Focused Specialist alternate class from Complete mage so you can give up TWO useful schools of magic.

Dragon Shaman might be too good in any other slot, but in the divine slot is is bad enough to qualify.

Samurai and spelltheif speak for themselves, though asking a dwarven fighter in full plate to be the theif does appeal. I decided to have each class techincally capable of fulfilling the primary role of the group though.

Warrior: Swashbuckler. I can't use armor, I'm stuck with finessable weapons, and my class features don't make up for it.

Scout: Soulknife. I fight like a rogue only my sneak attack is much more inconsistant and watered down. Also, I'm useless when it comes to traps. Or locks.

Healer: Dragon Shaman. I can get you up to 50% but after that you're on your own.

Blaster: Dread Necromancer. All the staggering power of a raw cleric offensive, without any of the utility of the rest of a cleric's abilities such as buffing or healing. Or flame strike. Or earthquake. OKay about half the staggering power of a raw cleric offensive, actually.

Ok, here is my crappy gang of four:

Hexblade (armor sucks, no bonus feats, hex never works, spells suck)
Healer (I can heal, that is all)
Warlock (I am fine when there is a real mage, but guess what? There isn't one in this party)
Ninja (sudden strike!)

knight (phb2) "hey bad guy! kill me!" "no, I refuse to attack you when you are flat footed. I'll wait till your ready." "Flank him? Why that would be dishonorable"

Shugenja (compleate arcane) actually know very little about it but it looks lame.

Spellcaster (Divine) from Unearthed arcana. Casts cleric spells, but gets d4HD, crap to hit, only Will as good saves, and has to spend a feat to turn undead or wear armor.

Spellthief (complete adventurer) this also seems lame. Very limited abilty based on certain contingency coming to fruition.

Seriously? Diviners aren't bad. I played one for a while (levels 7-11?) and gave up Enchantment. My extra Divination slot came in handy, and I never missed the Enchantment spells (except maybe Suggestion).

I did think about giving up Evocation, because every time the DM cast Fireball on us, I laughed. Even with my little d4s.

Enchantment is a very weak school. In my post i suggested giving up a powerful school, or better two. Without evocation and conjuration, I bet you would be far less effective, but you would have THREE slots to spend on divinations. Even better go red wizard and give up transmutation. Then you would rule.

Well they do get bonus feats, but the pool from which they can choose is limited and not that useful.

The spells are only good for things like self-buffing (mirror image is nice) or that Hound of Doom (again, this makes the bonus feats even less useful, since they are all about making your very crappy offensive spells slightly less crappy).

And my Hex has worked, for which I thank the Class option in phb II which replaces the familiar with a "bad luck cat" that reduces saves of opponents.
