[WOT Adventure] OOC Thread 2

Well...most of you have managed to dissapoint Tomas...leave lawless men to victimize others? sheesh.

On a side note...while everyone wants to edit the bladmaster PrC. I'd like to see the Noble Class made a little better. At least I'd like to see something done about the "Call In A Favor" thing, cos as it is in the book, it's lame. A special ability that you use once...and then it's gone until you raise a couple levels and get another use? Lame...

I'd like to see it work like the revised Star Wars noble....where the ability is more versatile...once a week...charisma roll with a +1 modifier for every time you would be awarded the "Call In a Favor" ability...max +5. It would make the Noble more useful.

I've seen the revised Star Wars Noble, and I agree that it's a much more useful class than the one you're stuck playing. As for the Blademaster, I think I'd almost rather use the official version than Dave's new one, but I'm still not sure.

The juries still out for me on the blademaster too, i'm not sure i really have a problem with the offical version. I'm actually playing a noble in my live group and i agree with Tay-Dor the Call in a favor thing is kinda lame, although i'm only taking a few levels in noble, so it won't hurt as much. The increasede reputation and inspire courage, for me, are the best things the class has going
IMO.

Blademaster

I've thought about the Blademaster a bit, and here's what I would do.

1. For Defense, I would give him a +7 Defense progression, but no Armor Compatibility. Since pretty much all Blademasters come from Armsman, I don't consider this extra high defense overpowering. Get rid of canny defense--or weaken it so it only applies to fighting defensively.

2. Change the saves so they are all +5 progressions. No real weaknesses, no real strengths.

3. Defensive awareness is nice, but not really necessary.

4. I don't really like Parting the Silk, but nor do I really like the +3d6 per attack. It does more damage than a critical. So I'll lay out a couple of alternatives:

a. Replace each Blademaster strike with a extra damage die roll per round. The blademaster does damage equal to the highest x die, where x is the total number of successful hits he does. Since I think this is relatively weak, I'll also throw in a feat called The Boar Rushes Down the Mountain, which gives the Blademaster an extra attack, but with a -2 penalty to all attacks (like Quick Shot). This replaces Spring Attack--which I think is a relatively weak skill for a Blademaster.

b. Keep the +1d6 (or make it +2d6, or 1 damage die, whichever you think is the right power), but it only applies to one attack per round. Subsequent increases in the Blademaster strike allow you to apply the +1d6 (or whatever) to additional attacks.

c. Make a feat called Improved Spring Attack, which lets a Blademaster leap in and do a single attack at +2 attack bonus and +2d6 damage, and then get back out. At each Blademaster strike increase, add an extra +2d6. Make Spring Attack and Combat Reflexes pre-reqs and give Whirlwind in Spring Attack's place.

Those are my thoughts.

If you go Warder you will have job security, and will actually know what the class entails exactly.

Valkys, If you were going to take Aes Sedai, which level would you take it at, 6th is the earliest possible level, but if you do it then it puts off a bonus channeling feat till at least 7th level if you go right back to initiate. I think 7th level makes more sense since there are no bonuses for initiate at 7th.

my plans for Shalimaar
2nd Extra Affinity Fire
3rd Tie Off Weave
4th Extra Talent Warding
6th Extra talent Conjunction, Multiweave

Personally, I prefer to multiclass so that the class levels are even numbers. I'm not usually a munchkin, but I don't like to give up the increase in BAB, Fort, Will, and Def as well as putting off that bonus feat.

I agree with you and wouldn't take the PrC until 7th level. But FYI, your feats as listed don't qualify you for the PrC. You still need Sense Residue.

At the moment, I think Sirsei will follow this plan:

2nd: Tie Off Weave(will be useful for her Warding Weaves)
3rd: Extra Affinity(Air)
4th: Multiweave
6th: Sense Residue, Extra Talent (Cloud Dancing)

And she probably won't take Aes Sedai until 9th level, if then. It depends on how all of this works out. I suppose she could be forced(or feel forced) to flee and go Wilder.

8th: Extra Affinity (Water)
9th: Extra Talent (Conjunction)

And this is my progression as it relates to yours. Healing might fit into an 8th or 6th level spot. I just didn't want to overlap too much. If I took Healing at 6th level, we'd be identical.

I don't understand taking conjunction until you can use more than a pair of weaves in it. Bond is a 5th(4th) level weave and compulsion is lost(unless you can get Verin or a Forsaken to teach it).

On another note, I now possess a copy of the new Call of Cthulu. It's a good resource if you wish to DM it, but as far as playing, it's entirely unnecessary to own a copy of this book if you have internet access and can read the WotC website. The differences are pretty clearly denoted.

After looking at my schedule, I think I can DM another game. And I like CoC. I also like D&D 3e. If you're interested in playing in a game I DM, which setting is preferable?

Actually they errated all of the channeling PrCs. No PrC requires sense residue. The reason I am taking Conjunction at 6th is that once I hit 7th level I will be able to use bond Warder. Since I am taking Aes Sedai at 7th, I will be able to bond warders legitimately at least as seen by the tower.

I wonder why they included all Sense Residue in all of the Channeler PrCs then next it on all of them in the Enhancement.

As listed in the Web Enhancement you need:
4 ranks weavesight
4 ranks composure
8 ranks concentration (its either 8 ranks of concentration or composure forget which)

2+ talents
2+ affinities

Multi-Weave
Tie Off Weave

I seem to have missed errata somehow. Handy to know. And I have my doubts about whether it is really necessary to take the PrC to be an Aes Sedai. I think, so long as you qualify for it, you should be able to take the oaths, but the PrC shouldn't be a requirement.

I thought I had the enhancement, but I don't see the errata in it. Can you post a link for me?
