D&D 5E WotC 5E Release Schedule - What's Next?

Has WotC announced any more products besides the Deluxe DM Screen (Jan 2015), Princes of the Apocalypse adventure (March 2015) and Adventurer's Handbook (March 2015)?

I know that WotC said that they were planning a slower release schedule with 5E, but it just seems odd that there will only be 3 adventures, one book related to an adventure and a DM screen released in the 7 months following the release of the core rules.

I would have thought that WotC would have announced a Forgotten Realms campaign setting book by now, even if it wasn't going to be released until the middle of 2015. It just seems like they've generated all this attention with the release of the PHB, MM and DMG, but they don't really have any other products to talk about now that those books are out.

I'm not saying that I'm unhappy with WotC taking a slower approach to the schedule. It certainly helps me keep up and I'm probably more likely to buy most of what they put out. However, I expected they would have at least told us what's in the pipeline for 2015.

they're working on the FR book, i'd guarantee it. they'll probably announce it sometime in the spring and hopefully release it by this time next year.

Not that I'm aware of.

They're in that awkward "second album" phase - they've had a huge hit on their hands, but they need to make sure they follow it up with just the right thing.

The problem with a FRCS is that such a product is bound to be divisive - there are an awful lot of D&D fans who really don't like FR, and there are a chunk of FR fans for each of the Grey Box-only, 3e, and post-Spellplague periods (and whatever other ones I've omitted). So almost any version of the FRCS they produce is going to annoy a whole bunch of people.

Alternately, if they start producing splatbooks (the other "usual suspect") then they'll quickly find themselves accused of starting up the supplement treadmill again. So that's a problem.

And if they produce nothing then the fans will gradually lose interest. So...

Personally, I hope that they do take their time, work out just what is the right offering, and then wow us with it when it comes. And given the extent to which 5e has exceeded my expectations, I'm actually reasonably confident that they will.

I think we've had like 7 or 8 of these threads the past couple of weeks. Wizards hasn't announced anything yet, but we did get the description of the Elemental evil adventure and splatbook through Amazon a while back (it was since taken down).

WoTC will release fewer books for 5E. The release schedule will be sparse. That's the signal WoTC has given us, time and time again.

No offense to Olaf, but it really is like every 3 days for one of these threads.

No, they haven't said much. They are doing some columns on the website starting in January and some AP/Story stuff with 3rd parties. And a DM screen. Thats it for now.

They've only said that they will have something to say in the new year, and that post DMG they are taking vacation time.

Time will tell; I hope they stick to their guns about slowed down product, and that they have generous licensing in place.
