Highly unlikely. I think Wizards would be out a significant amount of money if official D&D content was available only via D&D Beyond. And when DND Beyond becomes the only official source for D&D content, I guess we're out of luck if we don't buy from them?
I think both things are a problem. The bigger concern isn't the errata (seriously), it's the overall move to D&D Beyond.
500' down (that's the max you fall in a round) and now only 30' out, with no damage. It's an imperfect fix that could probably use a second round of errata. Already! And this round of errata is not even OUT YET! (At least, not officially!)It just feels odd to not have a maximum descending distance if that's the concern. (I'm picturing flying squirrels and lizards, don't they often get from tree to tree that are farther than 30' apart? Can they now drop 1000' in a round, within 30' of where they started, with no damage - or did I misread?)
You Invalidated Gravity and made Sir Issac Newton do 1080-degree spins in his grave. And supposedly became the god of movement. Not even Ao himself could do anything via 5E rules. What was the problem with the original glide anyway?
As I see it changing this ratio to 1:1 would have been all was needed while keeping that concept intact.hmmm...it's nice they addressed it, but feel it is missing the light armor/unencumbered requirement. Interesting they dropped the 1 foot for 5 foot drop, but I could see them not wanting the ability to be overly complex.
Well I didn't say it was a fix I said it was "bonus," and I still stand by that.it isn't an improvement for some people to have access to fix, and others either don't, or have to just trust 3rd party non WotC employees to deliver the fix
Ok, and that is a big deal because?becuse right now you have people saying "I paid on beyond so trust me it's fixed, but you can't access the fix unless you pay"
This will be free too.again... that was free. I would not want errata every 5 weeks, but I also don't want to pay to get it... they need something to send it for free.
So you would be OK if they waited to "fix" it on Beyond until the official errata is out in PDF form? That would solve the problem in your mind?and made it WORSE... right now I only have "Trust me it's fixed even though you can't see it"
The fact that we can’t check but have to ask others to is a great example of the issueIs the Heavy Armor clause part of Glide still there? Cuz so far from what the updated version being posted here is showing, there's no mention of armor restriction to use Glide. Meaning we can now have Flying Gorillas, Sugar Gliders, Mandrills, and Baboons flying around while wearing Heavy Armor.
why not put out a statement at the same time. Why would putting the info on the main page make beyond take longer? So you would be OK if they waited to "fix" it on Beyond until the official errata is out in PDF form? That would solve the problem in your mind?
yup. and even someone answering (as we see in other read the same rule 2 different way arguments) we need to be sure they are not giving there own spin on it.The fact that we can’t check but have to ask others to is a great example of the issue
That is how I going to rule for my Adventure League group. Hmm. new Hadzoee game. Lawn darts with yourself as the dart. Start at 500 feet and trying to hit the 20 point triple mark.500' down (that's the max you fall in a round) and now only 30' out, with no damage. It's an imperfect fix that could probably use a second round of errata. Already! And this round of errata is not even OUT YET! (At least, not officially!)
we were asked not to talk about thatConsidering the lore has also been updated and the thread about that has been closed, perhaps @darjr would edit the OP to include the lore changes as well.
They didn't include any restrictions on this new ability beyond your reaction and movement speeds. So, you can do it while wearing Heavy Armor or are encumbered. Is the Heavy Armor clause part of Glide still there? Cuz so far from what the updated version being posted here is showing, there's no mention of armor restriction to use Glide. I agree. It is an issue. But one pretty easily solved by reading the quoted text in this thread. The fact that we can’t check but have to ask others to is a great example of the issue
