D&D 5E Wrestlers Join the D&D Live Fray!

In addition to Jack Black and others, WotC's 'D&D Live' event this year will feature a game called The Chaos of Carnival Table played by a group of wrestlers: Xavier Woods, Ember Moon, MACE, and Tyler Breeze. Aabria Iyengar, the DM of Critical Role's new show Exandria Unlimited, will be Dungeon Master. D&D Live is July 16th-17th.

Eventually, I wanna run a D&D Campaign that is populated entirely by Professional Wrestlers.

EVERY line is over the top. The Heels and the Faces are clearly visible. And you get to DDT Tiamat through a table.

It'd be epic.

If you haven't read it, I'd recommend checking out Xcrawl. It's Earth D&D like in 1985, but the main sport is televised dungeon crawls. People can invest in special moves/combos for their PCs - an example was El Kabong which I think was two attacks and then a Sunder Armor. One of the stories had a guy who busted out a Wall of Fire that said "We love you, Detroit!". Sponsors give out prizes, like a year's worth of arrows, or magic items (each brand makes a special type so... one company only makes flaming weapons, for example). You also have downtime crap to do like getting endorsements and keeping in the spotlight.

I thought it was an interesting concept. Characters start at level 4, unless you want to start in the 'boffer' leagues which are so low you're fighting guys with LARP weapons and wearing signs that say 'Orc'. They may also bust out a retired hobgoblin as a 'boss fight'... good times.

Good to see.

IME there is a pretty decent sized crossover with wrestling, not as big as martial arts back in the day but it was sizable.

A lot of fans are D&D players I've met including myself (I was briefly a fan) . Jabroni , slang for loser associated with wrestling was a fixture with certain players for a very long time.

One of my former players was even a jobber, that is the guy who always loses as its his job , for a while.

Xavier Woods bringing his wrestling friends into the live streaming DnD world. He's quite a character in Acquisitions Inc so if eject this to be quite a fun watch.

I think this is great for the overall culture of play. I think it's important to emphasize that roleplaying games are for everyone. Also love Ember Moon and Xavier Woods.

In my current game, the major orders of paladins are based on wrestlers. Every paladin is based on a wrestler. Low level bards make money playing their entrance music.

I took out Lawful and Chaotic and replaced them with Face and Heel because my players understand it more.

So there's an important other layer to know, here:

Xavier Woods is a D&D Nerd and has been for a VERY Long Time. He talks D&D on Wrestling Podcasts. So do many other wrestlers. To the point where MJF, one of AEW's best Heels, took to Twitter a few years ago to taunt D&D Nerds and even got up in Matt Mercer's Twitter to Heel it up.

Xavier Woods? He's Bobby Zimmeruski in Acquisitions Incorporated. He's one of the main team members, not the C-Team, either.
Xavier Woods is a pretty amazing human being.

I don't watch and know who MJF is. Wish AEW did screen here would watch it.

As a DM I have always found the over the top characters and dialogue to be useful for NPC's (and shy players). Back in 4e, watching any of the Rock's matches solved any difficulties with Come and Get It (seriously, I think he used that every match for 5 years, and no magic involved) and any of Hulk Hogan's pre-NwO matches solved any issues with Second Wind (I didn't recommend any Undertaker matches, since magic was implied).

You're not helping lol.

Not even The Rock could get 4E over.
