Because they're boring. It's basically "Here's your sword of Slightly Better Math." Doesn't that sound exciting

i'm just going to reply quickly to this cause i dont have the time to say it all right not but. it's not that he needs it but it's the magic gear that allows a warrior to get on equal grounds with a mage or priest.
What about in terms of contributions to the party?Which I think only makes sense if you think you're in competition with your fellow party members. You shouldn't be. Your competition is the things you encounter.

I don't think +X Items are bad for the game. I DO think the fact the game balance assumes the use of +X Items is bad for the game.
A fighter shouldn't have to rely on having a +X weapon to be able to hit the level-appropriate opponent, nor should he have to rely on having a +X armor to keep most of the attacks of the level-appropriate opponent from hitting him.
Here I disagree.
Magic items are tools invented by the human mind for the betterment of human life.
If a fighter finds that he is weaker in the absence of these tools then he should absolutely seek them.
Just as human beings rely on guns and not on their natural weapons when hunting.
What would you say to a person who said that human beings should not have to rely on tools such as guns etc. to be able to survive level appropriate challenges, i.e. lions?
Would you say that reality is bad becaus it assumes the need for tools and science for the survival of human beings instead of fangs and claws?
n other words, they should be bonuses. A +X item should be pure icing on the cake, not necessary and already factored into CR appropriate ACs.
