This is really, really disappointing. I really liked the creative ideas in this book, and especially the ideas of how to make psionics more playable and balanced, but they still managed to screw it up. When will they ever, ever, ever get psionics balanced with the rest of the rules!!!! This has to be because of that awful policy WOTC has of not using errata to fix anything they consider "playable" even if it even not how the author intended it to work. I would much rather they used the errata as an opportunity to fix things that were obviously mistakes. Oh, well, time for house rules, I guess.

I think that for them to be balanced, they need to rework Metamagics for one. I just don't like having to give up a higher spell level slot to metamagic a spell. Most metamagics aren't even useable until 3rd level or higher, as that is when you generally get 2nd level spells (unless you want to cast a Light spell Silently, heh). So I think they need a new system to apply metamagics too. Metapsionics are a LOT more flexible.

The other thing is, magic spells need their own "augmentations".

Basically, I think Monte Cook's AU has some great ideas of how to apply metamagics and spell augmentations (and can't forget about the spell templates!).

Page 165: Mindfeeder Weapon Quality
The second sentence should be changed as follows:
Once per day, a mindfeeder weapon grants its wielder temporary power points equal to the total lethal damage dealt by a successful critical hit. The wielder must decide to use the mindfeeder ability after successfully confirming a critical hit, but prior to rolling critical hit damage.
Add the following sentence after the third sentence:
The wielder may not exceed his natural maximum power points per day using the mindfeeder ability.

That handles my major concern about the psychic warrior, which I guess points out that it wasn't really a problem with the *class* to begin with.

Metamorphic Transfer is still way too good (well, at least they made the change, that it cannot be used three times per manifestation of Metamorphosis, as in the XPH version, but the way it works now, it still seems pretty overpowered for a single feat

It might be too good but I don't consider this a change. I think they added text to clarify it for those who were missinterpreting the feat. Maybe poorly written since enough people misinterpreted it, but still not a change.

Over on the WotC Psionic Boards we have 9 pages of Errors, 4 pages of Clarifications and thread after thread of questions, and this is the best they can come up with after all this time?

Most of the errata is actually correcting the very bad editing job the XPH got in the first place.

And for the record, Psionic Moment of Prescience is still only a 2 minute warning for 20th level Psions. :\

It might not have been what they wanted to say, but it surely was, what they did say, so I wouldn't really call that a misinterpretation. One can only intereprete what is there. :)

Expansion

This is interesting. In my XPH, Expansion is listed with a duration of 1 minute/level (D), and can be "augumented" to 1 minute/level rather than 1 round/level by spending 2 extra PP.

The errata fixes part of this so that the augumentation is 10 minutes/level rather than 1, but it's still unclear if the original, unaugumented duration is supposed to be 1 min/level or 1 round/level. I'm assuming it's rounds, as that's what it is in the SRD 3.5.
