I am not sure that 2024 is more vague and incomplete, did they screw some rules up, sure, is it more than in 2014, no idea. I do get the impression that they lean more into rules however. The whole thing has some 'return to 4e' vibes to me, even if obviously to a more limited degreeI don't know. Going from 2014 where rules were vague and incomplete to 2024 where there is even more vagueness and incompleteness seems to indicate they want an increase in rulings.
Much the same here. 5e books were pretty much an auto-buy (with only a few exceptions) until a few years ago. Then I got really, really picky, strictly waiting for reviews before I bought. And that was when I still liked the base rules (2014).1- Wotc and Hasbro. I really haven’t liked much of what they’ve been putting out in content lately, it feels very “bland” to me. And the actions taken by the corporate leadership in the last couple of years have really soured me to buying anything with their stamp on it…. As opposed to a few years back when I pretty much bought every one of their books just to enjoy.
Yes, again for me the new Monster Manual would have to be really compelling, especially since I now own Level Up’s Monster book, 5 Kobold Press monster books, the Monster Manual Expandeds, and Flee Mortals. Now that the base rules are also changing, and they're less appealing, why bother keeping up at all? (The 2025 Monster Manual might change my mind, but the previews so far make me doubt it.)
Wasn't clear to me eitherAh, apologies, that wasn't clear to me.
Are you actually not joking or being sarcastic? I can't actually tell.WHAT! They're gone! Wow, that was one of the most important parts of 5th edition for me. I mean it, I'm not joking or being sarcastic.
Maybe. From what I've seen so far there are holes all over the place and the need for rulings galore. Maybe the DMG shores things up, though.I am not sure that 2024 is more vague and incomplete, did they screw some rules up, sure, is it more than in 2014, no idea.
