Lino would never (and if she knew i had a tight black leather suit I would be in trouble lol) burn her favorite follower
Been going over some things and maybe I was to onesided like the rest of the world Lino is both the giver and the taker and uses the same thing (the flame) to do both and the arcana can be used the same way to give(heal) or to take(fireball) So there are three main fractions, possible in all the religions the good the bad and the middleman. I want to play the good but Lino thinks there should only be the middle? <--- up to DM
So I take her powers and use them only to defend/heal but I was taught the middle ground(i.e. armor/shields/mace) Now i am a group of one that sees only the good in the flame and if it does wrong it is not the flames fought but the wielders
HM
Your are absolutely right, HM. Lino encompasses all of the aspects of his domains, not just good or evil. There are certainly people who follow Lino in a purely evil way (a small arson cult comes to mind) as well as those that believe in the good (a sect that provides cooked food and warm flophouses for beggars). Lino would certainly accept a cleric who was using the powers he granted to defend people and better the world, but he wouldn't look down on one who used the fire to burn some evil from the world, either. In the end (at least on Tantas), the gods are not so concerned with whether a follower's actions are good or evil as they are with how those actions show reverence to them. If you believe that Lino does not want you to harm another living being, you can certainly make that a core part of your worship. If you believe that Lino wants you to use his gifts to better the world--even if that betterment involves a little violence--that works to. If you believe that Lino wants you to burn every plank, brick and stone in the city of Tyral, you can even follow that path.
I do think that you can make a very compelling character without having twenty different ways to kill something, and it will be very interesting to see how such a character plays out in this system. Also know that not every encounter is going to be combat, so you don't have to worry about never contributing to the group (not that you can't contribute in combat without dealing damage). Plenty of the key points of the game are going to be social encounters, traps and puzzles, and lots of other situations besides simply knocking some skulls. However, there will be plenty of skull-bashing, so you may want to have some kind of combat back up (for instance, how does Norian feel about the undead or demons?).
