[Adventure] Desolation Island (DM: jsb420; JUDGE: covaithe)

Round 2 – Island Tower
[sblock=Previous Rounds]
Round 1
Round 1a [/sblock]
Seeing that his friend is being attacked, Ixenvalignat does the only thing he can do from this distance, "Run to the battle brothers!" (Double Move)

"Finnean, wait!" Ironheart bellows. His leaves tremble in horror as he realizes how far away the rogue has gotten, how exposed and vulnerable. "Not again..." he whispers as visions of trees crashing down around him flood his mind. Hefting his axe, he charges towards the tower with a bestial roar. He seems to grow taller, his legs longer and his upper branches thicker as he stumps over the ground. His top crown of branches begin curl and sweep back, except for two which sweep forward in twisting files and thicken to form solid horns. Tilting forward as he runs, Ironheart screams across the battlefield like a ballista bolt. And suddenly he is pounding up the ramp into the tower. He spots Finnean surrounded by foes, and doesn't hesitate - he bulls past him and barrels into the leading goblin. Goblins! It was these foul creatures that cut down his grove! Ironheart's axe swings around in a deadly arc and, aided by his deadly momentum, cuts through both of the goblin's legs in a single sweep. Blood sprays out behind it as it topples to the ground, felled like deadwood. (Double Move; AP – Charge (HIT))
GM: @JoeNotCharles : First off cool turn!

At the top of the ramp it is 6 squares to the top of the tower. From the bottom of the entry ramp, it is 7 squares.

Cyrus streaks across the open ground as fast as he possibly could. Like a shadow racing to beat the ever rising sun. (Double Move)
GM: Second Chance: MBA (Short Sword) against Finnean (AC 18+6(Opening Move)):+8 vs. AC; 1d6+3 damage: 1d20+8=21, 1d6+3=5 MISS

When the wood man burst in and cleaved through the lead goblin, Finnean grinned at the remaining goblins and taunted them. "SAY HELLO TO MY LITTLE FRIEND!" Finnean pats his friend on the back."Thanks Wood Man." The halfling grabs a dagger and tosses it at one of the remaining goblins. The blade catches the goblin in the center of the chest, puncturing a lung. Finnean then moves to cut off more reinforcements from coming down the stairs. (HIT)

"Oh Gods, make it stop, make it stop, MAKE IT STOP. It's raining arrows and death." Jesse covers his head with his hands and scrambles forward on all fours, across the battlefield. (Double Crawl)

The sharpshooters have all reloaded and take aim at the advancing heroes. After they shoot, through the tower’s crenelations, you notice that two sharpshooters have moved out of view, leaving a lone sharpshooter atop the tower. (HIT, HIT & HIT)

The cutters move quickly through the door and attack the intruders. (HIT, MOVE, MOVE & MOVE)

A loud chittering sound envelopes Finnean as from underneath the door boils a swarm of rats. (MISS)
GM: @Son of Meepo : Be sure to make a MBA against Finnean for the swarm’s aura for the first action during your next post.

From higher up in the tower, you hear a deep, booming voice, mostly spoken in an unknown dialect of goblin, with a few words spoken in common added. ”Intruders!...[unintelligible]…KILL THEM!”.

Ironheart hesitates as he hears Jesse scream from outside, but short of interposing his massive body as a shield for a single target there is nothing he can do. Meanwhile, Finnean is still outnumbered here. "Get into shelter as fast as you can!" he bellows, as he moves around the goblin, ignoring its weapon biting into his bark.

As he moves, young green shoots curl up from between the flagstones all around him. They tangle about the feet of the goblin facing Finnean, and several of the rats break off to gnaw at them. As they are distracted, Ironheart smashes his axe down among them, throwing sparks off the stones and causing them to scatter and retreat, chittering. As his axe vibrates from the jolt, power rushes through his arms and the cuts in his bark begin to close. A joyful light begins to burn in his eyes.

OOC: When the swarm attacks Finnean at the start of his turn, I assume that Ironheart would use Warden's Fury? Do you want to roll it now, or shall I roll it for you with my turn?

Also, Warden's Fury targets Fort, but it is shown as against AC on your wiki page.

OOC: Edit: Nevermind, I see you pushed the swarm away. Ah well. Was kind of hoping to get CA against it from Warden's Fury, but I suppose this will be just as well.

OOC: Wait a minute. That doesn't work. Swarms can't be pushed by melee and ranged attacks, so your push wouldn't work.

Really? In that case, I'd like to use Warden's Lunge on the cutter that I didn't mark instead. (Because I would have wanted to mark it on a miss.) That means I don't have the 4 thp, but Cutter 3 is dead.

Yes, if the rats attack you I'll use Warden's Fury, and I guess you should roll it. Don't forget the +1 from Warforged Tactics (I forgot it in my last roll...)

I was planning to use Warden's Grasp to slide them so you're out of the aura, since I only do half damage with Warden's Fury anyway. I didn't notice the CA granting part...

A flurry of small annoying creatures harasses Finnean. Ironheart buries his hammer into the heart of the swarm, distracting it. Finean strikes out, stabbing rat after rat. Before moving to handle the new goblins.

Finnean continues to bleed from dozens of rat bites, but he taps into his psionic energy to heal himself.

OOC: The swarm takes 8 damage and grants CA from Ironheart's attack.
The swarm takes 8 damage from Finnean's attack.

OOC: I'm a little fuzzy on how close blasts work in situations like this. I'd like to doublemove Ixenvalignat to H5 and breathe on everybody (don't worry, he's got a feat that makes his breath affect only enemies). The rats are behind a wall, but well within the blast range Ixenvalignat's enlarged dragon breath. Would they be affected even though they're around a corner? If so, they'll take full damage (as opposed to half) +5 because of their vulnerability.

*Edit*: Nevermind. Targeting rules say that if you can draw an unobstructed line from a corner of your PC's square to a corner of your enemy's square, you have line of effect...and he does!
Ixenvalingat rushes into the tower huffing and puffing,"*HUFF* Sorry *PUFF* I'm *Huff* late *PUFF*...

*COUGHOUGOUGOUGH*!"

Out of breath, the warlord erupts into a fit of coughing causing sparks to fly from his nostrils and from between his teeth. The electric conflagration fills the room, slaying the two goblins standing guard in the vestibule and singeing the rats as they scurry for cover, "Ahemahemahemm hmmm harruum!" Ixenvalignat thumps his chest, as if attempting to clear a blockage in his throat, "Excuse me, I'm a little out of shape. Did I miss anything?"

*Cyrus grunts as the arrow grazes him deeply across his right arm. He winches in pain as blood begins to slowly roll down his arm though he has no time to think about it. He continues to dash forwards though not quite as fast as before. Moving into the building he darts into the cover of the shadows within the room. Hoping to be over looked compared to the more loud and boisterous lot of his group. There he waits to strike from his concealed position.*
